I wonder if the Steven Joyce affect is to keep trivia on the headlines so that in the smoke screen the dumb voters don't notice the lack of key Key substance. For example this morning Mr Key was interviewed unusually on Morning Report. The ineptness or complicitness of the the interviewers allowed Mr Key to avoid answering any questions.
And then it hit me. Mr Key is a clone of Winston Peters!

I support MMP.
If I just vote in favour of MMP and not tick an alternative, does that make MMP stronger, weaker, the same?
If I did give a second tick to say PV, would that help to undermine say SM? -
It makes me nervous to think that should a review of MMP be earned, then whichever party is in power can get to cherry pick those factors which suit them. As in: "we have consulted widely, and carried out Select Committees but this is what we have decided." Sound familiar?

Roads. New jobs. Savings. Growth. etc. All in the future and sometime in the never-never. A pretty good strategy in that by the time 2014 or 2020 or 2050 guess which politicians will be around to accept accountability of any of those predictions, and anyway what Bill/John/Stevie really meant was something quite different.
One of my sons swears that when he was 8 and wanted to read while in the bath, I told him he could when he became a teenager. Promises, promises.

The rotten incumbent party in power has left the cupboard bare for the incoming Labour lead government. How cruel is that!

Bring back Bomber 44
10 October 2011 at 9:45 amI just spoke to RNZ CEO’s PA who put me through to John Houson (she said he was responsible for the banning) who told me Bomber was actually banned for making defamatory statements about the prime minister, and that Key might sue Bomber for defamation. He couldn’t tell me what statements were defamatory, told me to look at the script.
If so what about freedom of speech? How about PM interference?

Hard News: The Politics of Absence, in reply to
@ Craig:
whenever I hear a political party or candidate talking about “their” vote.
How do you feel about "my" Government or "my" Minister?

Brilliant. Does it get seen wider than here?

Up Front: It's Not Sex, and It's Not Education, in reply to
A Report on the "success" of Virgin at Marriage showed that while many teens avoided vaginal sex, many had had fun with many other activities including group masturbation and anal sex. Would be interesting in the wedding night marriage bed.

Thinking of places like Egypt. (Or USA?) Was that a good example of the Generals being the decision makers with or without the oversight of the politicians? Is it therefore wise to have autonomous Armed Forces in a Demoracy?
Maybe the answer is to stick to the problems that a tiny South Pacific country can handle effectively.
