Polity: Political strategy and Canada’s NDP, in reply to
So instead we grasp for things that aren’t there, extrapolating and shoe-horning into our own world.
While I tend to agree with that, in terms of shoe-horning the Canadian landslide does give a very easy answer to the next time someone says "people don't vote for tax raises"

Landslide to the liberals, with what looks like a clear majority. Compared to seats held in the last election the Conservatives will have about 60% of the seats they had, NDP will have about 35% of the seats they had. If this was, as Rob suggested a month ago, the NDP carefully targeting the middle of the road as a winning strategy, they appear to be roadkill as a result.

I am current first equal in the work "pick the results" contest at work at the moment. World rugby rank explains 80% of the scoring results between teams. But you can then factor in how much particular teams are under or overpreforming relative to their rank in the tournament. I think a very narrow win to Aregentina against Ireland, as Argentina are scoring enough extra points for their rank they just overtake Ireland (on average)
