I was a big fan of the old buckle street art museum.
Hmm! I remember my children complaining, 'Do we have to go see those fish on sticks, again!!', when another wet Sunday afternoon in Wellington loomed.

Regarding recent debates on Media 7, do take the opportunity to read Peter Thompson's (Unitec) excellent paper The Demise of the TVNZ Charter: The Arguments the Government Wants Us to Ignore, which has been posted on Scoop today.
Compulsory reading for PA people, I reckon.

It is difficult, living south of the Bombay Hills, to discern what benefits there might in a super-charged Auckland. I guess we need any benefits better explained...and lordy, lordy, Auckland does not need a Lord Mayor to muster the serfs.
To digress once again (but it has to be said), weren't the Chiefs magnificent once again on Saturday night! They really are playing beautiful rugby and there is nothing to compare with their backline.

By the way, I do wonder at the size and nature of this round table that Kerr sits at...Roger, for the love of God, can you change your organisation's name? I am sure PA readers can come up with some appropriate suggestions.
If it refers to what they sit around and gaze upon: " A pit of despair and despondency"? Or, if they wish to reflect the size of their membership: A fold-down card-table? An occasional table? A tabula rasa?
Well, it is Friday and I have just finished a huge pile of essay marking..!

An excellent Media 7 last night--especially the discussion on the future of advertising. But Tommy Honey (usually a fair and decent chap) deserves to be smeared in his name-sake and set upon by fire ants for his cheap shot about Hamilton (and Palmerston North).
Sean Plunkett? I usually think 'Sean Plonker'.

New Zealand is idealised by even smart and well educated people
I still have a letter I received from Phillip Adams some years ago (in his The Australian columnist days), where he writes of New Zealand as a 'socialist paradise'.

He's a good man.
I agree. My initial posting might have sounded a little critical but it is just that we need people like him and Helen to stay around and give heaps it to the gummint.
@DexterX. You are confusing your channels--stick to the Disney Channel. Is that the North Shore, or the shores of MalibU?

Apologies--this bloody laptop is still doing doubles.
Someone asked me what my avatar represents--it is me aged 4, from the Screen & Media Studies website (and from a time far, far away)

If it so, then it is their gain and our loss. When Helen resigned on election night, everyone said it was a gracious exit; I thought it was far too hasty and there has barely been a squeak out of her since (Michael Cullen too). We really do need a more opposition than the one we have at the moment.
