The old G3 OS 10.2 tower at the recording studio seems to be waaaaay faster with Opera than any other browser...especially for watching Dane Rumble videos on youtube.

I love these sorts of stats. I'm going to go look up the Phoenix Foundation ones now. We had some really bizarre ones when Eagle Vs Shark was touring European film festivals.

Our mail subscriber email client stats are a bit surprising; 30.4% Apple Mail, 7% iPhone, 14% outlook...1% gmail

That gmail stat is the most interesting as a quick look through our list shows a huge number of gmail addresses. Which leads me to think that most TPF listeners have gmail accounts and mac computers and don't use browsers to check their mail anymore.

It has been a pretty awesome sports month. Awesome to see England 2-0 up against Oz too. I love ODIs so much more than T20s but it seems their days may be numbered. Argh.

Anyhoo, this clip is HOT. INXS brought back to life (like that shitty Rockstar talent quest, but with good musicians instead of arseholes!

Beck is really on to something with Record Club.

  • Speaker: KICK IT! The Highest Mountain,…,

That was rather enjoyable. It would have been good to see us force a corner or two. But how many corners and shots on goal did Italy have! Heroic defense and a little luck perhaps, mind you a little more luck (from Woods strike) and we would have won that game.

Are they currently farting more than they should due to modern farming practice or is just the sheer number of cows causing the issue?

I think there are supposed to be quite direct correlations between what cattle graze on and their general stomach health. Supposedly frequent stock rotation and a variety of grasses is good.

Along with an embrace of quackery, sorry, i mean 'alternative' medicine.

What is the context for a claim like that? What medicines? Homeopathy? Osteopathy? Acupuncture?

I appreciate the need for GM to be judged on a case by case basis and for arguments against it to be made in a sensible manner. However, it is hardly surprising that the Green party has a blanket response to anything GE.

If we all ate a bit less meat and if every farm in the world (no matter how huge) embraced some of the ideals of poly-organic farming (or whatever you want to call it) then we wouldn't need GE solutions.

OK, so maybe I sound like nutter as well now. Maybe there is simply too much demand for cheap, shitty, cruel meat and dairy. Maybe we need to look at every available option science offers to make farming cleaner.
But the Green party does have an obligation to push for genuine alternatives. I don't care if that makes them as crazy as the far right, because its a crazy that however un-realistic would be lovely.

  • Hard News: The Future of the Future,

We got a VCR when I was about 5. It had a remote (attached by a cable). It blew my young mind. Not only that, it came with a free copy of Star Wars! Which I decided to watch every day for a year thus ensuring I would be a nerd forever.

I am avoiding the temptation to watch Thingy host Dancing With The Shortland Street.

  • Hard News: Music's emerging digital market,

Does it make me a pretentious twat that I find both Lady Ga Ga and Banksy a bit low brow? Low brow in the wrong way of course, which is to say extremely successful.

Actually, that's ridiculous. I just don't really like Lady Ga Ga, and while Banksy is amusing, I don't see him (her? them?) as a deeply significant visual artist.

Notions of high brow/low brow are a horribly hangover from an (unfinished) art history major. Yuck.
