Yes, all that anticipation and expectation and we were close to 'what finale??', and then broken bottles and pistols in the afternoon!!!
Just noticed my 500th contribution has just ticked over--do I get an extra scout badge for that?

That is a very generous and genuine reply to Russell. Welcome to PA.!

Geoff - I'm genuinely curious about this - can you explain a little more for the stupid bloke with his Monday brain in ?
Or perhaps direct me somewhere I might learn more about the matter ?A good place to start is the webpage "About Us' for MTS <www.maoritelevision.co.nz>, which describes their intent and purpose. Their cultural brief is magnificent but I don't see how it fits with outbidding for exclusive rights on a global sporting event such as the RWC.

a significant tool for promoting Maori culture and language by drawing viewers to a channel so dedicated ?
No, it is a misdirection of the cultural brief and intent of MTS.

One thing EVERYONE who visits the US should do - that copy of the green form they staple in your passport - the airline's supposed to take it when you check in to leave - sometimes they forget - if they do the INS thinks you're still in the country - don't go to the gates until you're sure the airline took it from you.
Very good advice as it has happened to me twice. Airlines are very lax about removing this form and you have to go through a tedious process (writing to some outfit in Kentucky, with evidence to show that you have been living out of the USA since your last visit), to ensure they will let you in again. The whole process of entering the USA is migraine-inducing.

Back home now. Good to see you in Christchurch, Russell. Any thoughts on your part in the In Media conference? I reckon it it was pretty damn good. Julian McDougall from the UK and Ben Goldsmith from AFTRS were hits--along with you, of course. Confirmed for me once again that media teachers are a great bunch of people and the Great White (and brown) Hope of NZ education..
The venue was a little odd (in inner Little England bowels of Christ's College) but the there was a great buzz, that lasted to until the final session this arvo.

If I go to BDO in January, it might be under duress as my 16 year old daughter is thrilled that Peaches is playing--but there isn't much to thrill me yet. The Decemberists, maybe, but no David Bowie despite the rumours.
Re Uluru. When teaching about the global impact of tourism, I sometimes use a photo I have which shows the sign requesting people not to climb on the rock out of cultural sensitivity, only partly obscuring a line of people beginning such an ascent.

On DB. For a while there I had a version of him doing "Life on Mars" with Arcade Fire (which is essentially a double dose of wonderful). But it doesn't appear on iTunes listings anymore. Anyone know anything about it?
