There's a few things I could have done if I'd known this was likely earlier. Not sure about embassy voting.. does NZ have such a thing in every US state? Anyway, far too late. Hope there's some decent data on it in the aftermath.

Hard News: Interesting Britain!, in reply to
remember postal votes are about 25% of the total, not included in exit polling.
They seem to have screwed up postal voting for this snap election. I received my voting papers TODAY, having confirmed overseas postal registration over a month ago. Neither I nor my wife were able to vote in time. Heard similar stories from others, even some living in the UK.
There hasn’t been a snap election since postal voting became widely available in 2000, I can only assume they were not prepared for it.
Very interested to see what the final turnout number is for postals in this election vs previous and vs booth.

Utter cowardice is the defining characteristic of this administration: much easier to withdraw from an agreement than to meet obligations under it, easier to let access to healthcare deteriorate than to actually increase it, and so on.
No effort to tackle hard problems.. just Stunt Policies to appease his core supporters and a running battle with the majority that oppose him.

I hoover up articles like this.. because occasionally I think about moving back to NZ, as I must eventually, then I remember I couldn't afford it. 100% less Trump and 100% more beach access, but economically it's not viable. Somehow NZ has got to get over it's real estate addiction. For example, UK has been making tax changes over the last few years that have caused a massive decline in "buy-to-let" activity - without spiking rents. It can be done if there is the will.

Speaker: Britain: the crisis isn't…, in reply to
Does the UK have any realistic appetite for reviewing its electoral system? Or is it highly content with what it has?
The last referendum on the topic had a negative campaign (backed by both sides of the political divide) which make the Brexit campaign look restrained and factual in comparison. It went No 2:1.

Speaker: Britain: the crisis isn't…, in reply to
Yeah, centrist parties are weird. They're probably the biggest anti-Brexit choice though, and hopefully learned their lesson the last time they were in government.

Interested to see if the Lib Dems rebound this time around.
If there's a chance my old electorate is in play, I'll be checking out https://tactical2017.com/ for ideas.

Shady business, on many levels.
I imagine if the fabled Great Correction does eventuate, it will be framed as a National Crisis, and the government will attempt to prevent all those mortgages from going upside-down. That will be expensive.

Is the council offering any subsidised "cycle training" for beginning (and experienced/feral) cyclists like they do in London and other cities?
