Strangely I have a 'Little Jack Horner' earworm.
And I'm gutted, because I got to Nancy and Love in a cold climate and somehow juxtaposed Cold comfort farm (see above).
Pipped at the postman, again!

The difference in the UK is that the rules haven't changed. I'm not sure they ever will. I really, really want to be wrong about that.
That's cold comfort indeed. Just to revisit the voting reform question, the Alternative Vote (AV) they are discussing is more akin to the Australian PV than our PR (MMP), right?
Once I get my head around the acronym soap, this does seem to be at the heart of the coalition, as discussed in the DM.
Vote reform, the issue that may end this pact
If this is true;
Liberal Democrat peer Lord Jenkins estimated that AV would have increased the Labour majority from 169 to 245, reducing the number of Conservative seats from 165 to 96. This, he noted, would have meant that they would have received 30 per cent of the vote but only 15 per cent of the seats.
Had AV been in place last week, it would have had a similarly damaging effect on Tory fortunes.
...we're in for some fun and games in the coming months.

Cue voiceover: "In New Zealand, we don't like to make a fuss - we leave that to Russell Brown ..."
A bFM classic. Now you mention it.
Speaking of bFM, has there been any comment on the changes since they happened? Overall it has gone off pretty smoothly, IMhO. Three hours of Troy on Friday is like an unexpected bonus. Charlotte is just so naturally at home on radio, more of her is not a bad thing either. I'll leave the deconstructing of the Breakfast and Drive turnaround to others, but most of my fears seem to have been allayed.
I love the self-effacing irony of the new drive promo that says 'like clockwork, always on time!' -
(Virtual chocolate fish to the person who identifies where I stole that from -- with extra points if you see the joke.)
Not this Teledaft piece from the Obama inauguration?
At first I was going to say This Mortal Coil's 1984 Album It'll End In Tears, but that sort of obscure reference is best saved for a music thread.
Ahh, so in reading through in more detail, you may be referring to mister Blair. Dull enough?
Sorry, I couldn't get past this comment by WeeJonnie;
He ’sold the sizzle’ – but what is inside the sausage?
That's not the joke, but it appealed to my puerile sense of ironic humour ;-)

One can pick up any design mag in NZ and it becomes apparent just how influential the flatpack has become. :)
What are the chances we could turn a UK election thread into Furniture Fetish? My chair collection is only just getting started. It hasn't yet reached my self imposed 'your obsessed and need help' limit of 12 yet, but it's not far off.
No, wait, the cinema seats blow that one well out the window. Help!

feedback that can lift their game
Best unintended pun of the week?
I agree with Gio and Sacha though. My tendency is to express, nicely, discontent on the spot and give places a chance to take remedial steps, which I'm sure they would have in this case.
In some places you wouldn't bother of course. I mean sending back a dish at Valentines would be extremely churlish.

Not so much mixing your metaphors as throwing them in a blender and making a 360 bpm mash-up of spluttering incoherence. Or your average Michael Laws column.
Boing!

"The parties agree to implement a full programme of measures to reverse the substantial erosion of civil liberties under the Labour government and roll back state intrusion."
Yes, without being too flippant, it would be nice to see a population treated with some dignity and respect, instead of constantly being told they are too stupid, or too poor, to make decisions for themselves.
Until they act on it though, they are but words in the breeze.

Billy Bragg said:
Well, whatever it is that I've helped to [be] elected by voting tactically, it certainly isn't a Tory govt. Look at the reform agenda and the civil liberties stuff as well.
Happy much?

except my pheasant entree had clearly been on the plate a little too long by the time it arrived, and was lukewarm.
Surely pheasant, like vengeance, is best served cold?
Mrs Beeton's cookbook has a recipe for pigeon pie - recommending that it is best served cold, stuffed with foie gras and truffles and padded out with plovers eggs
Still think the quail was spectacular.
