Hard News: Friday Music: Right back in there, in reply to
1984 was one of the best and busiest years for music in Christchurch. You had to be there I guess.
As my steadily falling university grades could attest.

Okay, if we’re gonna get serious about this yacht rock thing …
How about a yacht, a pipe and a vintage safari?

Ah, of course. I think I'd assumed Jaar was just another remix DJ, rather than an artist in his own right.
"Space is only noise" from 2011 is a decent album.

Loving that Kendrick. One of my summer jams, along with this R. Kelly joint:
When a Man Lies
and this one by Usher, possibly my favourite track of 2012:
Climax
Nice, I'll check them out.

I've always been an A-Z by author and title man myself, as you know. #Librarian
One of the wonderful things from the past couple of years has been getting into the whole mixtape scene. Section.80 mixtape by Kendrick Lamar is well worth a listen but it doesn't beat this funky joint off his debut album Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. Amplifier's 2012 Top 20 is a great shopping list of NZ albums.
Just gives me a sadface that I still haven't managed to catch up with the SJD, Kora or Sola Rosa albums. Thinking I spend too much time at work...

I reckon there's the most tenderest of tender segues from Velvet Underground to Flying Lotus (experimental art music?) so check out this beautiful, sad, short film for the title track of their new album "Until the Quiet Comes". It's all about death!
RIP Austin Peralta (son of Z Boy skater Stacy) who also played on the album.

Hard News: Party on, dudes, in reply to
DON'T. (Also, the Mortgage Slut thread, which remains, to this day, my favourite/most annoying discussion I've ever had on the internet.)
The Mortgage Slut thread was so good I immediately thought of it again when I saw this week's Listener cover. Keeps on giving...
