Well, that's great for people who want to watch a sporting event hosted by one of the world's worst human rights abusers.
Was I the only one to have thought evil thoughts last week regarding TV1's Olympic coverage - specifically, the questionable human rights records of both host nation and (now resigned) local host presenter?

john key is the workhorse Boxer, none of the animals would have voted for Boxer, he's the sad f&ck you get to build your windmill, and there's no way that Boxer would ever be a real threat to Napolean Clark.
Please nobody take this as agreement with the above sentiment - but I lol'd.

That's Jake Pollock.
And Keith - you will be missed. Cheers for posting so well on so much for so long.

Don't know if this is a result of the Veitch thing or not, but over the last few weeks people at my current place of employment (which shall remain nameless) have been coming out with stories of violence between partners, parents and children which would make your blood run cold. One coworker spoke to me for a full twenty minutes at lunch, after which I had to take a sit down just to try and get my head straight again. I mean, faaark.

Charlie Brookers piece in the Grauniad this morning is about how by writing an article that poked the nest of the mad-as-fuck (in this case 911-denial-denial), he substantially boosted the paper's traffic and search engine placings.
Was I the only one who instinctively jumped to close that window when the spam-laden title came up?

On the internet thing: ihug was having problems last night too, with people in the "Point Chevalier, Great North Road and Carrington Road" area losing access to DSL and phone services. Our phone works, but when I left home this morning the net was still off.
Why is it that ihug/Vodafone gives out account credits when its services run a bit slower than normal, but not when it cuts off our access twice within a month?

I see from this morning's paper that Winston Peters has once again blossomed into his triennial fingerpointing over gangs, immigration and multiculturalism.
And here was me somehow wondering in my heart if it was really an election year after all: no more. All is right with the world, in a predictable soul-destroying kinda way.

Whaleoil spends his time exposing 23yr old young women and attacking Russell for commenting on it because there are (snigger) more important things to do (LOL).
And Shep nails it.

I/S just said it better than I could.

I think the problem is more that the authoritarian, deterministic elements in all of those ideologies tend to attract a similar brand of adherent, who will then stress those elements in whatever ideology they attach themselves to.
