And it took me all of five seconds on Google to find out the correct pronunciation of the surname of the Chief Minister of Delhi. Dix-it not Dick-shit. Doesn't TVNZ have internet access on Sunday morning?
And me all of perusing my facebook news feed to find a different answer:
I imagine this is what Andre heard.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't see what McCarten's crime was in that exchange.
And if one were to be quoted what John Key said, the same response would apply.
If John Key's crime was not objecting strenuously enough, can't others be guilty of that in similar situations?

let's not assume the Ak result was quite such a swing away from the right.
Indeed, the people controlling Manukau are now much more centre-rightish than they were.

Laws got just under 55% in 2007.
Anyways ... look on the bright side, peoples ... we have a new convert to STV!

OK fair enough - but nowhere on that elections2010 page does it actually say that - each set of preliminary results is headed "Results", not "Preliminary results" - and there's nothing on the page to say that there are still some votes to be counted and that these aren't actually the final results.
Hardly the WCC's fault, they don't control the site.
The Wellington City Council's page make it very clear every time it mentions results that these are preliminary:
The preliminary election results are now available
...
Based on preliminary results, Kerry Prendergast has been re-elected as Mayor of Wellington by a margin of 40 votes.
...
Election 2010 - Preliminary ResultsAnd its news story is headlined: " Wellington City Mayoral Result Undecided " and begins:
Mayor Kerry Prendergast has an election night lead of 40 votes over Celia Wade-Brown, but it won't be known who's won the race until special votes have been processed. Some 960 special votes were issued. The result may not be known until Wednesday.
What more do you want :-)
-
Isn't that a little premature?
No.
The electoral officer is required by law to announce a preliminary result, including those preliminarily elected.
-
Any idea when we can expect the Wellington results?
I'm told around six.

I thought this was funny, from the first Herald story:
Mr Brown polled 221,167 votes, compared to 161,167 votes for Mr Banks, a victory by 60,198 votes, according to the first progress result declared after the polls closed at midday.
Businessman Colin Craig was in third place with 60,198 votes.
The numbers seem too perfect - a margin between the two leading candidates exactly equal to the third place getter - and it was, of course, wrong. The replacement there now isn't much better:
Mr Brown polled 221,167 votes, compared to 161,167 votes for Mr Banks, a victory by 60,198 votes, according to the first progress result declared after the polls closed at midday.
Businessman Colin Craig was in third place with 40,483 votes.
The tallies of the first and second are the same as the first story, but still aren't right - the numbers they give don't have a difference of 60,198 votes, but exactly 60,000 votes. Maybe those are the fake votes? :-)
Someone should get John Banks comments on the real numbers, though:
He had not dissected why he lost, but noted the 60,000 votes won by "another first-class candidate" - a reference to business-minded Colin Craig.

Graeme, isn't it galling that even Australians broadcasters appears more sensible, barely, than our mob?
No. Why would it be?

n fact, as everybody knows, Paul Henry was a fine Kiwi rugby league player who switched allegiance twice, first to rugby, and then to England.
That was Henry Paul.
