  • Southerly: When Otters Get Famous,

    1. How special was the first edition?

    2. So I can't get this in the 50% off any 1 Kids' book sale Whitcoulls is currently having (which isn't really limited to 1 book)?

  • Hard News: Unreasonable people vote,

Of course, he should still be retried (and convicted) but I have a funny feeling that won't happen now.

That's pretty standard. He's already served his sentence! How much vengeance do you want?

  • Radiation: Not funny,

It didn't. Being Human is an example of the had a "backdoor" pilot.

Interesting that it's not used that way so much. I knew about Seven of One. Indeed, I've bought the DVD, but I didn't really think of any of them (even Open All Hours) as a backdoor pilot.

A backdoor pilot is "supposed to be" an episode of another series they use to spin off something else. Like how NCIS: Los Angeles started as an episode of NCIS, which started as an episode of JAG. And how All Gorwn Up and Angelica and Susie's Pre-School Daze started as special episodes of Rugrats :-)

  • Radiation: Not funny,

where will the music go now?

    Isn't it already on C42?

The music and music shows on C42 is quite different from that on C4.

  • Radiation: Not funny,

    Did I choose correctly?

Probably not if you're me. But you're probably you.

  • Radiation: Not funny,

I'm also hoping the backdoor pilot is going to be included on the DVD

Interesting - what series did it spin-off from?

  • OnPoint: Did you know we're in a recession?,

it has turned politics into the circus of bullshit that it is today.

Unlike when? When was the golden age of New Zealand (or American, or whatever) political discourse?

Because I'm far from convinced it ever existed.

is anyone in the media actually bothered that they've ran big fat headlines that are patently ludicrous?

The headline of the NZPA/Herald story is:

"Govt claims credit for six-year inflation low"

How is this not true? Doesn't your piece make an identical claim?

What would happen if my blog post was sent out as a press release from Goff's office?

[If they'd been timely enough] then in the news story to which you link, Phil Goff would have been quoted saying smart things instead of (or in addition to) David Cunliffe saying what he said.

Kieth does a fine job of explaining why he feels those are not valid measures and that the government is spinning for Africa, and I agree with him - but that's a job for a commentator/analyst, not a news reporter.

Just checking ... commentators and analysts aren't journalists?
