So far almost all of our cases have been imported, most directly into 2 weeks quarantine - I suspect that that messes with how it changes here (hopefully to our advantage) - it's possible that a lot of the rise in numbers we're seeing right now have been generated by the rises in the countries those people came from.
We've been told not to expect the numbers to really turn for a couple of weeks and to not read too much into the recent numbers - it's likely to get worse before it better

Linger: thanks for that, I spent the previous 2 weeks talking my son down from his planned trip to Japan (he had been in the Jet program for 2 years there), luckily we did finally manage to convince him

Went out for a walk today, more people walking in the neighbourhood than usual, people carefully keeping distance, walking into the street - but absolutely everyone said "hi!" and smiled

I normally work at home, have done so for most of the time since my son was born (he's 29). This is all very weird - all these people are going home, finding wonderful things there - I feel quite left out - wish I could take time off to join everyone.
Meanwhile we're in the middle of moving house (the kids are gone, this one deserves a bigger family in it), the movers were coming on Friday, much of my office is already there, we're stuck in a house full of boxes for a month. We're also carrying a bridging loan, hoping the market wont crash while we're holding the baby.

"woke" as an insult

So I can grow my own in my old age, but can I buy seeds?

I feel there’s a rule of thumb this sort of constitutional change requires a super-majority, say a 2/3 majority, otherwise the results are chaos and recriminations (for a great modern example the ongoing brexit clusterfuck)
(which doesn't excuse the Spanish government's overreach)

In 1980 I bought a small cottage in Waitati north of Dunedin, summer was amazing, the vege garden turned out to be full of “self seeded” poppies, one morning they were all gone ….

I saw the movie last night, there's a scene where they explain that he's tried a different drug now and it's worked ... they didn't go into details, but it wasn't just "you're cured".
The movie was great, not some airbrushed hagiography, but also not a tell all assassination - something in between warts and all.
It's also a bit of an homage to Dunedin, wonderfully quirky shots of everyday places made special, if you are from here you probably should go just for that
