Speaking of silly beliefs
Someone help me out here. I saw a Close Up viewers poll about the credibilty of Wishart's Air Con over Gareth Morgan's book and it came back at 77/23 in favour of Wishart!!! WTF!!!! This is what we're up against people. I find it hard to see this in a positive light...anybody???

On Wishart - does anyone have an actual measure of how many people actually buy into his complete conspiracy theory insanity? He continually says he's a bestseller, but I'm vaguely convinced that it's a scam - somewhat like the way scientologists were instructed to buy up many many copies of Battlefield Earth so L Ron Hubbard looked like a bestseller.
How many books and magazines does the man actually sell?
Eddie, I can't speak for his magazine but unfortunately Carol is correct about his books, way too many. I see the book sales each week that Neilsen tracks and I'm sorry to say that this book sold quite a few thousand (at least 2,000 in the first two or three weeks from memory). It has started to fade on the chart now but it outsold Gareth Morgan's Poles Apart by quite a margin. I think his Absolute Power book also performed well sales-wise which maybe more understandable with all the Helen-haters out there. Obviously there are a lot of enviroment-haters out there also.

Alan, Whilst I struggle to understand your sentence I see this created quite a furore when it was originally posted. SonyBMG had it taken down and the singer Ray felt the need to apologise. Quite funny.

Do you have any plans to work with corporate partners that work from a more sustainable basis, for example, providing fresh food rather than processed food, shoes that are manufactured in NZ etc. etc.?
I have to agree. I know some food is better than no food but some of the muesli bars I saw them handing out during the Telethon are processed crap made up of mostly sugar and flavourings - real fruit content, minimal. Surely there are better alternatives on offer.

Slightly off topic, It would also be good if more publicity was given to the gutless government's (now starting to show their true colours) withdrawal of funding of the Enviroschool concept.
I heard Russel Norman on the radio lamenting it but there really should be more people deriding this foolishly short-term decision.
This programme makes sense on so many levels. For one they grow their own food!! Some kids think that all food comes in a plastic wrapping of some sort so anything that demonstrates otherwise has to be a good thing, never mind all the other good, common sense aspects of this concept.

I loved Telethons. And I will be watching some of it, for no other reason than nostalgia.
Likewise. Although I am considering boycotting, not because they pulled Dexter though that does piss me off especially to replace it with a lame doco on prison escapes - not exactly riveting, but because unless my memory is wrong (which it well could be) aren't Telethons meant to be 24 hours long? I know some people can't cope with not being able to watch the news at 6pm but it's a one-off and for charity and think of the kids that are allowed to stay up for the whole thing...

I reckon. No way were they mediocre, I think it had something to do with pastry - yummy. Although I'd interested to know what supermarket pies you think are superior. I've never bought a pie from the supermarket apart from one of those big Irvine ones and they are average.

I apologise in advance for this complete swerve of topic, but does anyone else share my total lack of interest in Big Wednesday?
Yesterday it seemed to be the only topic of conversation everywhere I went, and today the front page of the DomPost is completely given over to it.
Seems like a rather unhealthy national obsession to me.A'greed'.
I think the these massive first division prizes are obscene. That one person one $36m and then won the second division which was almost another million is beyond the pale to me. (I realise there are even bigger prizes overseas). Call me a commie but I think a more equitable distribution of the prize pool over the divisions would be far better. It certainly would encourage me to buy a ticket if I thought I had a better than 1 in 16mil chance of winning a decent prize. FFS the odds make it hard enough to win even the Division 3-6 prizes!

People are having a go at Rodders agenda (quite legitimately I might add). A little perspective might be in order. I generally like your comments and the way they drag the debate out of the fringe but sometimes you get a bit carried away.
