Actually yes. The last time (1 x 2.5 yr old) we stopped in Vancouver for a friend's wedding. That was downright pleasant.
Also: Air NZ & Thai are superb with children. Luftansa, on the other hand, are… sub-optimal.

Arg, my PTSD. I’ve done Finland with a 6 month old, and we’re going to attempt it again next year with a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old. Your “Fight Club” flight brings back memories: it’s that last leg that destroys you. I hope to never be more exhausted again. It's deeply unpleasant turning up at the in-laws apartment experiencing waking hallucinations.
On the upside, it’s much easier coming back. Getting the short hop out of the way at the beginning makes you feel like you’re only starting your trip in Frankfurt.

While network logs might help detect the sort of mass extract that you're talking about, there is no way you could claim that it's evidence of a "low risk" to security. For all we know, people have been popping in and out of the back end for years, establishing a standard pattern of unauthorized access.

It's not entirely unfair, Craig. it really is this serious. Without hyperbole, it's about as serious a systems failure as can happen.
If it is not in the perview of the minister responsible, nothing is.

It is really hard to understate the size of the systematic failures that have been exposed by this. It smacks of expediency, and utter disregard of this proportion *can only* happen when there are failings at the highest governance level of the IT infrastructure.
