The Hot Grits "Headlights" Music Video - Banned by TVNZ
-
This music video from Auckland band The Hot Grits has been banned by TVNZ for "inappropriate content".
The video was shot by local production house The Downlow Concept, whose intention was to “demonstrate the child-like greed with which adults conduct themselves whilst on the road to excess”.
The TVNZ censor felt that images of children drinking milk from shot glasses and a funnel, and their general behaviour, were inappropriate.
Polical correctness gone mad in an election year?

The only thing that video should be banned for is the shocking lack and misuse of punctuation in the subtitles. That distracted me and spoiled the video.
"Her name was Carolyn man" No, thedownlowconcept, it wasn't. Her name was Carolyn, man.
Or perhaps it was actually meant to look like some kids had written the subtitles.

Maybe her name was Carolyn Mann?
Is it Political correctness gone mad in an election year? Yes. Is it an election year? Yes.
But that doesn't make it Political correctness gone mad in an election year.
Nice song, nice video, but I don't think the two actually match up together anyway.

Doh! That should have been:
Is it Political correctness gone mad? Yes.
Is it an election year? Yes.But that doesn't make it Political correctness gone mad in an election year
Kinda spoiled my point, eh?
Damn you, Preview/Post Reply!!

That's gold. Nothing nasty, no fights or dodgy stuff, just a good night out, loved it.

Hah! Yeah - a great night out drinking milk, swapping coloured lollies in clear bags in the loo, ogling girls and eating greasy kebabs... lol
But does nobody at all have objection to the laughably tasteless words repeated at the end of each chorus;
'it's down her shirt and up her skirt'?
This thoughtless little gaffe is, in my opinion, ample reason to ban this song. You don't need to be a feminist to know that 'headlights' is vulgar reference to female breasts! 'Top Bollocks' eh boys? Such blinding stupidity!
Forget the video's story line - it's harmless, but the notion of pre-schoolers prancing around to the lyrics 'it's down her shirt and up her shirt' is unfathomably tasteless! Are the Hot Grits paedophiles? - I don't know. Is whoever wrote these words a blunt misogynist? - a resounding YES!
Sincerely,
