I was thinking about people who have the tag, but still get the questioning glares because gaddamit, they're walking so they must have that tag under false pretences.
Apparently blue access parking tags are among the items most frequently stolen from cars in Australia [link] ('though I have to admit my source for this looks a bit dubious, or unsubstantiated).

And would like to stop there but must add that it should be respected just as David did the right thing, that too should be respected. Good on him for questioning his behaviour and good on behalf of posters here expressing dismay. It was truly ignorant on those ol' girls behalf to behave as they did but I do not for one minute expect that they should have known better. We aren't all perfect and just naughty. By old age, we are ignorant if we respond like they did to David. If we explain ourselves ,others can understand and the journey feels good and respectful. the dissing can stop. :)

Hmm. As I was reading the post, the first thought that came to mind was 'What Would Bollard Do?', and then I really liked Stephen's thoughts, and the person that suggested it could make a t-shirt.
And then I got to thinking, actually an entire series of Bollard t-shirts would be awesome. We could have publicaddresstees.net and David could typeset them in LaTeX. Who doesn't want Rofflenui on a t-shirt afterall?
And somewhere along the way, I was like omfg, I know Bob's mum. NZ really is a village.

Ahh Sofie, that's very kind of you. My family will be touring NZ, the North only sadly, for a month this Christmas. My older girl's been several times, the new bub never. I hope my anticipation of the visit is matched by the experience. Oh could Matapouri ever disappoint?
I too offer any PAS regular a meal and entertainment should you have spare time in Sydney and a tolerance for infant screeming... it lasts only a few hours generally.

A friend of ours told the neighborhood kids to "clear off!" within a week of becoming a homeowner.
My neighbourhood kids have consistently failed to play their part in any lawn-related traditions; they do not play on my lawn, nor do they come to the door and ask to be hired to mow it. What is suburbia coming to?

I frequently have bouts of litter-bug induced rage, but one of the best times was when I was sitting on the steps around the corner from Happy in Wellington (it's a venue, not just a pen-name), when a taxi stopped at the lights. The passenger's window was wound down, and a McDonald's bag casually dropped out. I ran on to the road, screaming "That's not being a fucking tidy kiwi!" picked it up, and gave it back to the passenger.
Which would all would have been alarming enough, but as it happened, I was attending the first Wellington Zombie Prom, and I don't want to blow my own trumpet or anything, but had just been declared prom queen, so I was officially looking very undead.
I like to think that person never littered again, for fear of an avenging zombie coming out of the darkness to attack them.

Tempting offer -- a bit of F2F argument would be a delightful novelty. We might even teach the baby diva a trick or two. Shame next month's visit to Oz is going to revolve arount the BH's brother's 80th birthday party in Mount Gambier, with some chillax time in Melbourne. (Anyone have any recommendations for cheap and cheerful eateries and good bookstores there?)

Ahh, that's a blast, Paul. I loved that series. Did you see the TV adaptation? It wasn't half bad - it had Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis (as Anna Madrigal, of course) which is something.

I can't even handle how fantastic that is. Can this be part of the Bollard tshirt order, just because? It would be excellent if a zombie was screaming the words in a speech bubble. (I've thrown someone's litter back into their car at them, but I didn't say anything that fabulous.)

Craig, I pay the admission fee to hear you read my oldest Alice in Wonderland... that'd be a hoot.
As for cafes and bars in Melb, I'd recommend heading to Brunswick St, Fitzroy (just north of the CBD) for any number, Mario's is good. Most of the cafes just north of Flinders St station in the laneways are pretty good (and the laneways are fun themselves). Also, St Kilda's got some cool eateries.
I used to spend a lot of time in Melbourne, it's my favourity city in Australia. For bars, try Cookie Bar (252 Swanston st in the city, good for cocktails), St Jeromes (7 Caledonian Ln - hard to find, young and loud but cool), The Standard Hotel (293 Fitzroy St, Fitzroy, live bands, more a trad pub). Federation Square's got some cool bars/cafes too.
There's a great bookstore on the city corner of Lygone St though I can't recall it's name (the only decent thing on Lygone st which should otherwise be avoided).

Seen them and own the DVDs. I'm only sorry they didn't adapt more of the series. Dukakis is truly fantastic. I insisted that a friend who recently transited through San Francisco take photos of Russian Hill.

Pelligrini's. I never visit Melbourne without dropping into the place for lunch - a true local institution which is very centrally located. The menu consists of whatever they happen to be cooking that day (they make some of the best pasta sauces I've had outside of Europe).
On one visit they had run out of seats so we ended up sitting around a beaten-up old table in the kitchen while the owners argued with each other in Italian while cooking. Classic!p.s. Don't miss the Dali exhibition at National Gallery of Victoria

Thanks Danielle. I heard an ad on the radio on my way out this morn and thought shit. Still onlly got the end of it so still not sure now.The Powerstation is the only bit I heard and Jarvis so your guess is better than mine.:) Sorry about that.
