I'd have thought that, based upon the logic of Israel's Rodney Hide, it would be offensive to those who have a religious abolition against eating Mexicans.
Well, if somebody suggested it's not okay to eat Mexican, OTOH, I would be very offended.

Wow, I just found this in the Wikipedia article about swine flu in the USA (no doubt it will be removed soon):
Swine flu is nothing to worry about the media is over-covering it and making people panic when its not neccesary.
The internet makes diseases so much more entertaining.

Same for planes, which filter the air pretty well.
Is that true. This may be UL but I did hear that one side effect of banning smoking on planes was that the airlines now hardly do any filtering and that this in turn makes it easier for infections to spread (that said, I'd rather catch flu than sit in a smoky cabin for 12 hours).
Any corroboration for rumour?

It already has. I'd say "picture or it never happened", but it's you...

The headline on the Stuff page right now is "Minister: Don't Panic". Oh, media.
(Also, who knew Ryall was a Douglas Adams fan?)

Air New Zealand were quoted in the paper yesterday saying their filtering killed 99.5% of microbes in the air. Make of that what you will.

but I can't see Israel being so keen on "Yankee flu", somehow.
Let's give a friendly wave to the coming apocalypse & call it Pirate Flu.

The ninjas might object.

It's all a plot by the abortionists!
Let's not be having any more crazy theories and conspiracies.
If Lincoln had just listened to his Secretary of State in 1861 and annexed Mexico, this pandemic wouldn't have happened. Can't have a Mexican flu without a Mexico, can you?
So Abraham Lincoln's to blame for this.

Glory, glory Ian Dalziel! Puns & truth in a rich witty stew! Strewth!
Made the day!
(Mind you, Stephen Judd's 'swine before churls' nipped at the heels, and made the day even more satisfying...) -

As the dude said: there is history. Gotta love that Wikipedia.

OK, Stephen, fair enough. I don't make a habit of tracking the make-up of Israel's Parliament, I just assume that someone with "Minister" in their title has some clout to speak for the government. And since the government speaks for the country...

That comparison is grossly unfair to all the unfortunate sufferers from phallocranial syndrome.

Thank you Russell, that may well be the next ringtone on my phone (for all of 5 minutes, which is about all I can stand of his voice)

Tee hee.
-
And wouldn't Mexican influenza be offensive to, you know, Mexicans?
Oh I dunno.Could beat being called drug traffickers, wetbacks,Spics (all my life ;) We're invading, you know! Where is Knowledge Bro when ya need him?
-
Just in. All 10 swine flu tests back from Australia. All positive.
Update: Darnn 3 News teasers. Three of 11 tests back, all positive, authorities therefore assume entire group is positive.

Kronfeld - verb 1. To turn the tables on an egotistic celebrity presenter.

Why isn't the first immediate public health step in this epidemic the use of surgical masks? When my sister lived in Japan whenever anyone had a simple head cold they would wear a surgical mask out of courtesy. And the cold wouldn't spread - which is unheard of in any Western school setting.
There was a public campaign to get people to wear red socks to promote a yacht race, why on not get them to wear masks to prevent the day to day spread of this virus? This would be a good precaution, as the flu virus is most contagious before there are any symptoms at all. (18 - 24 hours before symptoms).

Come now, Matthew. It's not "Israel is demanding". We're talking about this dude, who is a fundy whackaloon from a minor party which got him a deputy ministerial position to keep them on side. It is as if Rodney Hide made an off-the-cuff remark at a news conference and you said "New Zealand is demanding".
And there goes Ambassador Judd's brilliant diplomatic career down the crapper... :)

No, don't be daft! Lets just verbatim quote the UTTERLY UNINFORMED OPINION OF SOME RANDOM MOUTH WHO HAPPENED TO BE ON THE PLANE! WHAT A FUCKING GREAT IDEA! HOLD THE FRONT PAGE!
You would have enjoyed the Daily Show tonight. Jason Jones reporting from the "Center for stuff I heard from some guy".
