Nope. Wish I'd thought of it.
That's exactly the right thing to say when you're the sock-puppet operator... :)

I almost don't want to say this, but perhaps there is some truth in the critiques of the way in which PA is formatted.
I "should" love this blog and comment on it all the time. The posts are intelligent and interesting, the comments are generally from intelligent people who don't get into stupid argument with each other like on so many other blogs, the general political leaning matches mine quite closely.
But for some reason I don't comment here particularly often. In a way I'm not even sure why, but perhaps it is something to do with how "different" it is from other blogs.
Not saying that anything should be changed just beacuse of my opinion, but I think it's worth sharing my point of view.

If you want Russell to act or think on your view, you may need to quantify "difference".

I tend to take it as a situation where "you come into our house, you act like one of us" .
Having said that, I don't contribute to other blogs or talkboards and am more than happy with the way PAS works.

Just in the formatting really. I guess I am used to blogspot/wordpress type blogs.
This almost seems to sit halfway between a blog and a forum. Which, as I said, isn't necessarily a bad thing.

This thread's a little older, but I figured it was the best place to note that the iTunes link to the Dimmer album appears to only work in NZ (at least in Australia it takes me to iTunes store which doesn't list Degress of Existence...). Is this something that can be fixed for different countries?
Frustrating as I don't know when it's out in Sydney stores etc and they're not touring Australia...

One thing about how the site works which is not amenable to technology - other than through tagging perhaps - is the propensity for authors to start up new threads which duplicate the conversation already happening on other ones.
If the author could just take the time to post a link from the old thread to the new one that would be marvellous. Have found many times lately that if I return to a thread and respond, I subsequently discover that the conversation has moved elsewhere.

How'd that work if there are some threads you dont read, tho' Sacha?
(I know Hayden writes well, but I lack any interest in sport: I assume posts will meander from the original post there, much as they do in other posts?)

Actually all Haydn's posts start talking about team uniforms. Thankfully we all manage to move the comments onto how the NZRFU sucks and is destroying rugby.

And roller derby. Don't forget roller derby.

Not a sports fan either, and relaxed that I may be missing gems buried there. Am not talking about that level of detail and it's probably not a big deal for most. It happens partly because Public Address has multiple authors and topics per thread, but that's not the whole story. I raised it here in context of seeking improvements to the way the site works.
Basically, I should not have to check the rest of the site before continuing an existing conversation. Today's example that prompted me is this post of mine and this new thread where it might have been better placed - if I had known what it was about before I posted.
Does using the RSS feed as the main interface get around this, by providing a short overview of all posts?
Seems easy enough for the creator of a thread to know that they are duplicating one of the main topics of a previous one, hence my suggested manual workaround.
Tagging might offer up some more automated search/interface possibilites, but again only if the author or readers apply the tags while knowing about related conversations.

Note that the sports derail worked better than the music one. :)
