I cried, and I’m still feeling quite emotional about it. In a week of bullshit, it felt very direct, and the applause from the gallery was sustained.
Wouldn't it be nice if Dunne heard that. I remember watching a Campbell live one night where Dunne went to see first hand the effect his synthetics had had on people. The look on his face was one of horror. He looked almost scared . That's when I thought he might just come around to some common sense.
"Oh, the Irony of it All" and... because it's Friday, I give you The Streets. -
Looks like things are heading in the right direction...
,” UNODC Executive Director Yuri Fedotov said in a statement Tuesday. “It’s time to reverse the cycles of violence that occur wherever ‘drug wars’ are undertaken, and to abandon policies that exacerbate suffering.”
But Wait...
There's more..."The UNODC is proud to take its cue from a popular movement supporting marijuana decriminalization in particular, which claims as its annual holiday 4/20, or April 20, the central date of this year's UNGASS," said UNODC Public Information Officer Kevin Campo during opening remarks at the first plenary session on Tuesday morning. "This is just one way we're showing our commitment to rethinking the drug war from a more humane perspective."
Sounds Great...
Until...The hoax was so elaborate, that a fake press release condemned the first fake statements, by explaining the UNODC’s policy on celebration of 4/20.
The United Nations does not recognize ‘4/20’,” said a fake release attributed to a real UNODC spokesperson David Dadge. “And although we wish we had good news for the folks who do, some large and powerful states still insist on blocking the majority’s desire to decriminalize, which means that this senseless war on people will continue.”

They weren't "his synthetics" though. The period of attempted regulation was brief and he'd spent years banning one after the other.

Ok, edit it to...

I totally agree with the case your`e making Ben .The point blank refusal to do a serious , honest & comprehensive cost benefit analysis of psychoactives is irrational ,dysfunctional & pathetic in an age of endless metrics & analyses about social, political, economic & whatever issues. WTF!!!! No cost/benefit analysis here folks - move along please.WTF !!! Sooo instead of an honest societal dialogue we are put in the grovelling posistion of grasping onto every little crumb of harm reduction progress thrown from the prohibitionists table. This posistion is now so normalised that my argument here could be characterised by many as an unseemly rant .We need some serious thought on how to move this agenda forward with some transparency at more than glacial speed - incrementalism & dishonesty has not worked.

I'm now claiming that this was the best thing to come out of last week's UN drug summit:

Hawaii selects eight medpot dispensary businesses, minus Woody Harrelson's bid. Latter gives Granny cover to file that news under 'entertainment'.

Really? If that is the best ,and don't get me wrong, what happened for him, I would hope for the other thousands in the same situation ,(because we do have thousands), and I'm glad he was able to tell it like it is, but,if that's the best the World can come up with...... Jesus wept.
On the other hand, if his one contribution brings about change in NZ, I'll advocate to put his face on the $20 note. -

It felt that way, didn't it? Just the fact that there had been quite a lot of bullshit and then this man stood up and spoke clearly, passionately and directly.
