Congrats Blogging it Real, (and lets hope you lift your game re NRL picks this year).
If it weren’t for you guys this Wellingtonian would never have known who Darth George is..
-
Sue,
you do kind of have to love that it takes you blogging here, and the actual owner of the hotel to resolve the issue.
rather than say staff acting on the complaints of their customers.

Man, you and John Tirman should not be surprised at bias in news coverage. Haven't you read Chomsky? The US media avoiding "hot" topics like the dead and suffering in Iraq is classically predictable, even inevitable.
-
I'm sure that if I'd been watching the game on TV, those modern sages, the commentators, would have been all over it.
Murray Mexted has never seemed to show any grasp of the rules in the past - I can't see why things would've changed now. ;)
-
Thanks Leggie - both Yamis and I did break 60% with our tips last season, which is respectable enough ... I guess.
In the US, I can only imagine that the wall-to-wall (and largely superficial) Obama v Clinton coverage is starting to grate.
At least here we lead with plane crashes, sea rescues, car crashes, weather (our own or someone else's), and sports.

His stint as captain of the All Blacks was entirely down to referee prejudice?

Not during the Hurricanes' game - they mentioned the new rules a lot. A whole lot. But if anyone deigned to explain what those new rules are, it must have been when I took a bathroom break.
-
Mind you, the 'canes would have lost whatever the rules.
-
The Chiefs were a trifle disappointing. though. With all that talent in the backline, you would think they would sweep through the Blue's defence. Even Luaki seemed to be getting nowhere...maybe it is an adjustment to the new rules which certainly speeded up the game..
Maybe they will do better against the Waratahs but they did do a demolition job on the Hurricanes on Saturday. -
Seriously, I mean this in the nicest possible way Russell, but what the hell is wrong with you and everyone from Avatar? With baths that awesome in the hotel, who has time to think about going online? Sheesh.

I dunno Geoff, I thought the Waratahs looked pretty crap. The Hurricanes were just crappier.
-
I went to the game too - there was a time in my life when not knowing the rules would have worried me, but for now, I'm just like feck it, they'll only change them again. It also struck me that because these new laws are experimental, we'll be back to the old ones for internationals.
Having said that, it was a great game to be at. They players all looked big and fit, and there were some huge hits. The Chiefs do have a great team, save the front row (which is usually our strength). Bugger.

I HAVE been to haka.co.nz to check up on the ELV's, but I obstinately refuse to watch any winter code on telly before my birthday (which is in the first week of March).
It is still warm, and evenings long, outside.
-
It was a pretty abject performance from the March Premieres to only put 3 tries on the Canes, who were just awful. Complacent, stupid, uncoordinated, and once more hindered by the presence of Gopperth.

The baths are scary. I didn't think I had time to run one, let alone luxuriate long enough to do it justice. (It also occurred to me that if everyone ran one at the same time the CBD would have a power failure.)
But ... exactly whose room have you been in to see the bath anyway?

There's a multi-choice survey floating around somewhere for you to take a punt on the identity.

This game was on Prime and they made a reasonable attempt from the (add break) bits I saw to explain a couple of things. I don't think they knew a few things themselves to be honest. Needed Grant Fox or something.
Not sure if the Sky commentary crew is the same or if Prime put their people over the top of the footage. Haven't paid for sky since ESPN lost the NHL.

As a Wellingtonista, it is my job to know everything about everything in this city. Duh.

Excellent, is there a particular season it's safe to land an airplane there?

Too soon!
-
Prime simply take Sky's footage- since Sky bought 'em, and used them to fulfill their "free-to-air" obligation.
For the rugby-heads, there was a fairly good explanation of the new rules on the "Friday footie" thing before the Crusaders/Brumbies game- and a fair wack of talk about it during. Mr Mexted sez he likes the new rules a lot: that must be worrying the powers that be!
By Saturday, I guess it was old news... -
Too soon? Is that before or after monsoon?
-
Depends on which way you're going up Blair St.
-
I think Joanna's
Too soon!
is referring to the Paraparaumu mid-air collision that killed three young blokes.
I assume (and hope) BenWilson was only referring to Wellington (Rongotai) airport's reputation for bumpy approaches rather than sniping at some (very) recently deceased aviators...
-
Evan, you assume correctly. I'm sure it's perfectly safe really, but approaches to Rongotai always feel like you're bombing a field of moguls.
