  • Paul Litterick,

I'm up for a 'what I'm doing while the results come in story' which is eating roast chicken (free range), stuffed with lightly sauted onions, fresh breadcrumbs and fresh chopped thyme and oregano, together with roast vegies (potato, sweet potato - no kumara, alas, aubergine, capsicum and red onion) and fresh green beans, washed down with a pinot grigio, and anxiously watching the vote see-sawing back and forth between Stephen Franks and Grant Robertson.

    1. Bottle of Stables Cab Merl
    2. Hummus
    3. Black bread

Listening to NatRad, hearing that Nikki Kaye (yes, I know) seems set to be my MP. Oh God (not a phrase you will often hear from me).

  • Islander,

We're moodily eating delicious food (some of it described beforehand) which doesnt include 'bait fritters but does include the champane...the Tory people are letting off crackers and singing. Which is painful. Those bastards cant hold a note.

And would you believe most of the songs date to the 1st and 2nd WWs?!

Well, watching Peters cede Tauranga, right this minute.

Also, as should be obvious, watching some cricket and drinking beer. Mostly the beer.

    ... see-sawing...

    Stop that...

Someone tell fecking winston apologist Willie Jackson that parliament is not there to entertain us. Reasonbly gracious concession from what I heard tho.

The champane has turned to vinegar and is, even now, spidering out pickling the remanants of the glorious cheese...

  • Stephen Judd,

Hey ho. The feckless are a constituency too, and they deserve their turn. I was born under a National government. My first political memory is Kirk's death, and nine years of Muldoon after. The Labour government that followed disappointed us as much as it did good. A year or three (if it lasts that long) of a Key government is no disaster, and it's how the world turns. Maybe they'll surprise me to the good as much as the 88 Labour party let me down.

And Winston Peters is gone, along with the NZ First remoras and Philip Field. Silver lining.

Very happy to see the awful Tizard gone. Helen's cynical promoting of this incompetent while letting the real talent of Tim Barnett languish has borne its reward.

  • Isabel Hitchings,

Voted at the church around the corner with almost no one else there. The almost-seven-year-old came into the booth with me and the three-year-old with my partner.

Dinner was red wine and vege lasagne seasoned with a little despair. Don't think my mother is having her best ever birthday from the look on her face.

My electorate (chch central) has been close enough to feel that my vote was actually worth something.
