Love the Wedding Present (have very fond memories of a Brixton Academy gig many moons ago), love those squally guitar choruses, really love the Gedge Cinerama offshoot that shows his songs stand up without the wall of noise ..... but, sad to say, I don't love the Kings Arms

Great band in their day, but it's all been downhill since The Hit Parade albums 20 years ago, sadly.

Don't really know this band but I am going to the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion at the King's A--largely on spec, after hearing a Music 101 interview, . Are they good?

They were responsible for a good, albeit inferior cover of the Pavement classic Box Elder. I'd go.

Saw Jon Spencer and the Blues Explosion supporting Beck at the Powerstation back around '96 I think it was. Spencer played a raucous set but gave me one of my favourite all time live gig moments when he came out later on to join Beck.
It all got a little out of control and Spencer ended up being attacked by the bouncers on the mezzanine floor after he climbed up the speaker stack and was mistaken for a fan gone rogue.
If he's half as energetic as at that gig, you'll be in for a good night out. -
Did anyone got - reports?
Must admit to being a little jaded at all the bands of my youth wanting my patronage and as such am very picky, Wedding Present I could live without

I went! Also to the in-store they did at Slow Boat Records on Saturday afternoon. It was great – they played for a couple of hours & material from most of the albums, even the new one, though it was heavily slanted to George Best & Hit Parade. Mr Gedge was amazed at how expensive NZ was & how wonderful the flat white was. So much so that he wanted to take it back to England Sir Francis Drake style.
Guitarist was the bloke from Golden Horse, whose name has slipped my mind sorry, who was great!
I got some photos from the in-store & they’re up on flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nothingelseon/sets/72157632830715771/
