Not a clip, but knowing PA is a fan I snapped this Ladi6 gig poster in East Berlin on Sunday. She gets around.

Cool!

Russell. I got rather trapped on the NZ On Screen Site. Nostalgia can actually be a bit painful.

I've had this stuck in my head since it aired a few nights ago. Daniel Radcliffe can not just act, but also sing and dance ... who knew?
-
Rhian Sheehan is awesome! I was introduced to his work by his wonderful book collaboration with his photographer Dad, Grant: New Zealand Landscapes. You're supposed to listen to the music while you look at the pictures, but both music and pictures also stand alone.

No music clip but an entertaining Friday read from Mad Decent's Diplo in Vanity Fair partying at Carnival in Trinidad:
There were the early fêtes—the soca rave, then an after-party, then some eight or nine a.m. breakfast raves sponsored by more liquor companies, then a drive home for a shower, then the day street parade. Then repeat. Times three. The last time I managed 30 hours, one of my teeth fell out. So say what you want—these are a resilient people.

And, ooo, it's Friday, so I finally get to post this wee gem, Icelandic bands that are not Sigur Rós, as introduced to you by your friend, Iceland.
It's even funnier because I found this link in Sigur Rós's FB feed.

In a claw back to previous weeks, I've been desperately wanting to hear SJF So Long, Marianne for some reason, but can't find it to beg, borrow, or legitimately download for money, anywhere.
So in the mean time, here's the original.

That is not about being trapped but entranced!
Out in the Street made New Zealand seem like a more exciting place.

On a recent Later With Jools, Rumer sang a lovely, lovely song Aretha. Anyone willing to post it, if available?

oops. That didn't quite work---but my intentions were noble.
On another topic, I would be interested in thoughts about the new version of Brighton Rock As a huge fan of Greene, I went to it with some reservations (given the lukewarm reviews) but it had some really good things going for: Pinkie was a truly horrible, horrible monster; the character of Rose was very sensitively done, Helen Mirren is good, and there is authentic seediness in the settrings.

Meant to post this last week....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BacPDrDeY8U
Also just read this yesterday - a great article. http://thequietus.com/articles/06318-how-the-music-industry-is-killing-music-and-blaming-the-fans

NB: If you paste any full Youtube link (including the 'http' but none of the square brackets bizzo like other links here), it embeds automatically so people can see what it is:

Thanks recordari! In a difficult week - which included me mislaying some of treasured cds (now, thankfully retreived) - just listening to "Marianne" made a difference-

thanks Sacha, I thought I'd done that.....sigh......you helped me last time, I even looked up the last post!

Thanks to this Metafilter post, today I learned about the Jolly Boys.
Here, they look their best:
Here, they sound better:
I am suspicious of all these "hey, we discovered cool old dudes" revivals, but I like this too much to care.

Speaking of nostalga, I saw Disasteradio last night on Brick Lane, at a Nintendo themed gig. The MCs were dressed as Mario and Luigi, which was pretty neat for the 30 something aged audience

Did Sonic and Tails happen to crash the party? Or did the bouncers intercept them at the door?

I woke up with Tainted Love in my head and no one to blame.
And then I remembered the Cults.
PS. If you’re wondering how I got there, sing ‘baby baby’ behind the intro. Love this song, but.

Ben Austin, in reply to
They didn't have appropriate ID, which personally, I think was just an easy way for the Bouncers to say "your trainers are too casual"

Aw, damn. Gil Scott Heron has died:

Still waiting to see media confirmation. But yes, bugger.
