Did you know that it was a sign that you needed to find food for your avatar? (and if you did, how?).
What a curious experience to play a game that you couldn't understand the cues for.
-
Yes, I think there were other clues in the game about the state of your character... Can't quite recall that aspect of it right now.

Had that with a lot of games from Japan. Lots of garbled phrases stuck in my memory.

Well it actually had a 'tips' mechanic - each game, the first time something happened, it would pause the game and explain things "Use keys to open doors". "Eat food to gain health". But I can bet the humor of "I've not seen such bravery" when you were getting nailed badly might have been lost on a non-English speaker.

sounds a lot like life...

or Chris Carter...
what was he thinking...
-
Wrong thread - head on over to "a gloriously bad film".
-
Chris Carter...
It is prophesied that Chris shall fall and rise again, to come into his future glory as the Clay Davis of Te Atatu. On that day he will judge the living and the politically dead, and his air miles shall have no end.

was he drug tested ? - on the telly his air smiles seemed to go right round his head - he was lit up like a pinball machine - high on V* perhaps...
and what's with the Tibet trip, allegedly paid for by a foreign power and apparently undisclosed to his caucus comrades - on the heels of the events just prior, weird judgement call or delusional sense of entitlement - he seems to have been on a long suicide mission...
...or a cry for help?*vengeance

You're probably being cryptic back, but just in case... it's a phrase that was spoken during Gauntlet. I'm quite fond of it because it's one of only two English phrases outside of music lyrics that allows me to remember what it was like not to speak English. I didn't back then, so it was like a string of sounds, but casting my mind back to it now I can recall the experience of not being able to decode it - and it's not a memory I can manufacture otherwise.
That, my man, is incredibly geekily cool. (We use the phrase "Elf needs food badly" as a substitute for "I'm hungry" in this house, and the echo-response is the often-heard "Wizard is about to die".)

Wow. My ticket in the Flipboard queue came up. It reformats your social media into a "social magazine" --very impressively.
Being able to see what my friends are saying and doing on Facebook without having to look at that ghastly user interface makes me happy.
-
Screw it, I'm getting one on the way home. A whole week!! I feel like a saint...
-
I went into the local tertiary apple store and had a brief play with one at lunch time. Mostly racing cars I'll admit.
Good fun. If it was half the price...

Interesting. One of the reasons why I have only one foot in Twitter is that I fear that if I started following people it would be the death of me. But if it was packaged with Facebook it might be more feasible (or at least it would be death in a single, pleasing GUI environment). Anybody know if there are similar apps for Firefox under Windows?

Which may well overcome my bravado before handing over the card. There really is just a bucket load of residual guilt hanging over this purchase. But apparently this may explain it.
It's just a matter of faith.

I had a play with my colleague's iPad today. It was my first time even getting a glimpse of an iPad, let alone getting to play with one.
I like its reassuring weightiness. And I love the turny-roundy functionality. Yes yes I know... but I don't have an iPhone or an iTouch either, so this turny-roundyness is still quite a novelty for me :) Anyway - I loved how the Wired app for example had taken the time to reformat each page specifically for landscape and portrait views - completely different page layouts for each - nice attention to detail I thought.
My friend showed me Flipboard on his iPad with the intro "I normally HATE RSS with a passion - but this thing's amazing" - and it is rather wonderful. I didn't realise it was highly sought-after and invite-only, but I can kinda see why - it does amalgamate your social media stuff VERY nicely...

I'm not one to lust over material goods, but the DODOcase is just such a thing as would lure me towards an iPad, had I the disposable income.

Giovanni, I thought apps like Tweetdeck merge Twitter and Facebook and even LinkedIn update streams.
-
I shall look into it. Thanky.
-
Welcome. Interested to hear your impressions.
-
Oh, was going to say Tweetdeck, but thought it was an iPhone thing. Worked on my iPhone pretty well, FWIW.

What Flipboard does that I haven't seen from the likes of Tweetdeck is that it takes content from the stuff that people post links to. So if someone tweets a picture via twitpic you see the picture not just the tweet. Similarly a link to an article results in an excerpt from the article. It's quite impressive.

You mean it's like Facebook then? That would suit me, I like it much better than Twitter.
-
In fact, Tweetdeck seems to do the opposite - turn Facebook into Twitter.
-
Ta, Gio - any other things you've noticed? I'm still undecided.
I recall other Twitter apps I looked into that included pictures, etc in the stream (and did not require an iPad to run on).

Well Facebook doesn't generally show you the content that people link to so no - it does more than Facebook (and it does the same with Facebook too). My main problem with it is that it's not obvious if it's showing me everything from Facebook and Twitter, in fact I'm pretty sure it isn't. But it is a much nicer experience for what it does show.
