Here we go! Thanks for the exclusive, Graham!

There’s also a surprising amount of baking.
Whether that's a euphemism or not, in NZ one should never be surprised by the amount of baking.

Also: bugger it, we're going to see Devo, winery or not. Our party may or may not include a baby in a backpack, wearing earmuffs.

Met up with Pete Terry, the organiser of Nambassa, a couple of months ago. He now lives in Oz and is creating a website <http://www.nambassa.com/> for anyone fancying a nostalgia trip.

Why the hell not I say. B-52s were a lark. Although Simple Minds and The Church arguably better support than Proclaimers or Dave McCartney and the Pink Flamingos.
But YMMV.

According to this rigorous reference (and to rumour when I was a teenager) Devo had success in playing the 'brown note' during the 70's.
Your toddler may be able confirm this.

I'm certainly thinking of going. Although I would like to be assured that Simple Minds will be playing their early stuff. I could definitely go a round of 'Theme for Great Cities'.

I saw Simple Minds 2 or 3 (?) years back at the civic... they played just enough of their old (good) material for me to be well happy... (Chelsea Girl, Love Song, Sons & Fascination) - Jim Kerr didn't even come across as a cock
not sure I'm middle class enough for a vineyard
hang on I went to the civic
*confused*

I’d settle for the opening of Love Song and In Trance as Mission.
Although this video of above is pretty special.
ETA: 1980.

If they restricted themselves to Sister Feelings Call and Sons and Fascination I'd be tempted myself.

Jos,
I found the original poster for Nambassa the other day, an old photography mate of mine had gone purely to photograph the toplessness! He gave me the poster.
:)
I'll take a pic of it and post it tomorrow. -
The human slinky owns Friday.

Yeah i'm tempted to drink two flagons of wine for Devo and agree early Simple Minds would be interesting, the Curch ..nah. 2012 albums - I should like Patty Smith but I tend for some reason to find her slightly annoying. Hotchip - yes . Spiritualized's Sweet Heart Sweet light is a real goody.

Are we not men? And, uh, women, and also babies?

My friend Carol had a cardiac arrest at 29. Whilst in intensive care, in a coma, her then husband played her B52s stuff on a loop. She survived. Just saying,

Devo, a winery act… my 13-year-old self just turned in his velcro-and-domes geometric shirt.
I'll go if you go, bro. And I'm sure we can source you an excellent replacement for that excellent shirt. I'll be wearing this.

Against all the odds, it would seem.

That is the strangest thing I've seen for a long time!

Hebe,
My name is Hebe and I like Simple Minds. I suppose I'm banished now.

. I think the Hare Krishnas are cool: invariably friendly and calm.
A great thing to witness is the Hare Krishna men going on waht I call the misogynist power march, chanting with the women and children following a dutiful number of paces behind - part of a divine order of which I want no part.
The chant to my ears is an abomination.

And the wonderful Ian Svenonius at Ponsonby Intermediate......(hope I get this linking thing right!)

My 9 Simple Minds LPs would argue otherwise
