So great to finally get a glimpse into what Shayne’s been working on
Not overly fussed on the leisure remix, Montell2099’s original works are way more interesting
For those looking for a refreshingly interesting homage to the purple one’s legacy might I suggest Michael Morley’s Gate…

Must watch the jungle dodo’s had the pleasure of being in London as it kicked in, I was a white dude in a flying nun sweatshirt and docs sweating in the clubs (that would let me in) looking quite out of place and loving every single second of it all – it was the sound of london in a way d'n'b could never be

Jammy bleeders…
Some other minor classics from last century….Plus
if it’s moody ya want, here’s some London magick – from a bona fide ‘working’ class hero – Alan Moore… The Highbury Working -
Some old shit that was lying around.

Toy Love signs to Deluxe Records
Here’s the band on that fateful day pictured with Tim Murdoch (WEA boss), Michael Browning (Deluxe & exAC/DC manager) and Terence Hogan (WEA A&R and friend).
.. and another pic celebrating after the deed with an ‘abnormally puny roadie’ off to the side at the back.
:- )Not sure who took the pics, possibly Phil Peacocke or Murray Cammick?

For me, DnB was a revelation after crap hi-nrg and mostly-boring (to me) generic house that you got in the gay clubs in the late 80s/early 90s.
Of course, as time went on, there was plenty of samey-samey DnB as well, but it's still my favourite dance genre. Although there's some fine UK dubstep of a few years ago I enjoy, and some more recent iterations of trap.
Speaking of nostalgia dance music (but not the good kind), I went to a gay club in Adelaide a few weeks ago, and other than the young guys "dancing" while simultaneously looking at their phones, the music would not have been out of place in 1989. Maybe it picked up later, but I departed early, for some reason.

Keisha Castle-Hughes hits the Roadie for punk new role
Says the Herald headline,
"Keisha Castel-Hughes in a new television show Roadies appearing on the SoHo channel" says the photo caption – (quality subs are hard to find apparently).Castle-Hughes portrays outspoken sound engineer Donna Mancini in the show, which follows behind-the-scenes dramas of the crew working for a successful rock band.
Nice of Cameron Crowe to tip a hat to NZ’s own Celia Mancini ( King Loser and former Into the Void* manager)

*ITV – Playing at The Wunderbar June 10th!!Into the Void vocalist Ronnie van Hout will be in Christchurch on a secret mission so the band thought they would make good use of him. And what better way than with a gig!
Joining them will be Christchurch’s own Ex Waves – an unholy marriage between Dick Dale & The Cure, they’ll add their own sonic stamp to the proceedings.http://www.undertheradar.co.nz/gig/50129/Into-The-Void—Ex-Waves.utr

:-)That phrase was Chris’s description of me from his introduction to the Rock Strips comic
Ian, we both know you only looked puny.

Can anyone place the still on the UTR page? I love that reference to the late great (very recently) departed Ian Watkin and was reminded of his involvement in BLERTA - and started watching segments the madcap Pythonesque Blerta Revisited - brilliant!
And with NZ ON Screen being a superb repository of Watkin's back catalogue there's plenty on offer including his role as the axe-wielding title character in the surreal, no-dialogue short Blackhearted Barney Blackfoot from 1980. And in a short, which might be quite difficult to make today, he plays a well-meaning but dim tour leader, trying to make Wellington sound exciting (!) there's Loose Enz - Graham's Mum and the Goulden Tour from 1982.

an image search indicates it's probably Ian Watkin as Uncle Les in Braindead
NSFW:and surprisingly the whole movie seems to be here as well
dunno if that's okay or just a Joycean 'pretty legal'I guess you found the Neville Purvis Family Show on NZ on Screen as well:

Aha,no hadn't caught up with Neil Purvis. But I can see how my winter Sundays are going to be spent!
Muldoon, what a character - he even called in the airforce (a solitary Skyhawk?) for Sleeping Dogs. Couldn't ever imagine 'popping down to Bellamy's' for an ale with Key or Joyce.

This is totally off-topic except it relates to live music in Auckland, and this seems like a discriminating audience to ask for advice.
If I was to pay a flying visit to the Power Station for a gig later this year, what would you suggest as an affordably convenient establishment at which to overnight?
