That Watercolours track was on my first playlist thingy too. Great tune. A pretty cool selection.

Saw old Daddypants in Melbourne and was seriously hoping he'd play "Just Like Fire Would". He did not oblige, so I'm grateful to see that.
And I do like to see a Roland JC120 in its native habitat. You guys must have been popular with the neighbours. Those things are loud.

Oddly enough, while I’ve lived in flats where the band would plague the neighbours, I don’t think that was one of them.
Although, I confess, we did sometimes behave quite badly as a household. In the happiest of ways.

Speaking as Eddie's Dad, I have appreciated the respect and support that Lorde has given her musical friends back home while she conquers the world. It has also been a privilege to get to know some of the other artists on this list - there is a LOT of talent out there,... Thanks to Russell for sharing this!

There is. I'm starting to wonder if there might be something on a Flying Nun scale going on. There's a sense of cohesion about that whole list.
The common point is direct access to the means of production -- which in the early Nun days meant forsaking studios for halls and lounges and four-track tape recorders.
The difference now is a far higher degree of competence in the basic business of music. And a freakin' big star to make the world watch.

I am not going to name the individual involved, but when I worked with Lesley in the 90s, we were sharing flatting horror stories, and she vividly described the pile of moldy dishes they found under a certain tenants bed when that person moved out.
Vividly described. Like a tale from 'Nam, told around a campfire.

If you haven't caught it already, here's the deal on Lorde and Laneway.
She goes to the Grammys (duh!), gets on a plane home and plays a show on the Laneway site two days after the festival. Can't help but think how amazing it will be if she plays that show as a Grammy winner.
