I loved dancing as a teenager, but was probably the most uncoordinated lad ever. Theatre parties were great for letting it all hang out. I had to learn to waltz etc. for the stage, but that wasn't dancing to me, it was choreography. As I got older, and the M.E. set in I had less and less energy to spare. If I danced, I wouldn't be driving home. These days, I just like to listen, which is also good, but if someone invented a cure I'd be a dancing fool again! ;-)

OMG, I forgot about “I Come Off”! I liked that one, back in the day. OK, a several-hit-wonder then. :)
(Didn’t he also write both of Tone Loc’s hit songs? “Funky Cold Medina” and… the other one. I know, I know, Google is my friend.)

Wild Thing. Yeah, he was quite the hit maker for a while. And the producers of all those did Paul's Boutique too. They had a genius way with samples that was unfortunately killed stone dead around 1992 by the courts.
And the remixer of I Come Off was CJ "Pump Up The Volume" Macintosh.

At the risk of offending professional dancers... my credo is to dance to feel good, never look good. Never understood people who laugh at the funny dancers, they are probably having a better time than you!
On the other hand Leatherman in Thank God It's Friday has an approach that's hard to dismiss:
"You ain't gonna be happy until you're free. And the only way you're going to be free is to get loose. And the only way you're going to get loose is to dance!"
I can not comment on whether the dancing across car rooftops was re-created outside Box on high St in the early nineties, or whether a moving car was utilised to bridge the gap Vulcan lane created...

I recently told the story of my crappest date on Twitter, when we all went clubbing and my boyfriend spent the whole evening comforting his crying ex-girlfriend. With whom he was "secretly" still sleeping.
I felt kind of guilty about it, because actually I had a pretty great time that night. Dan's friend Martin turned out to be a fantastic dancer, so we just left them to it. At one point in the evening, people actually cleared space around us and stood and watched.
I love dancing. If the choice is, "We could go home and have sex, or stay here and keep dancing,"... I'm going to trying really hard not to answer that question.

Adore music, but sadly have always hated dancing with an intensity bordering on neurosis. Way too physically self-conscious I guess. Sad, because I love watching dance, and envy people who can just commit to the music and move.
My dance phobia wasn't helped by two years at drama school where I endured classes in tap, jazz, ballroom, renaissance, free movement (creative writhing) and super-aerobics with Michael Parmenter every morning for a year. The horror.
