Yes Che, the victim has apologised and the bully has not, and they have decided to move on. I imagine now that nobody (or no woman) will dare to take on Craig, as his abuse has been legitimised and supported by this incident.
Just to repeat what I said above
In fact, I call that as an extension of the bullying behaviour. When it is the victim who apologies most, you know you have a power structure that feeds bullying.
This is not just about these two people. It is an issue for the type of public space this blog wants to be.

did craig and deb sort this one out already?.
Well, I thought so but obviously not to Malcolm's satisfaction - which is neither here nor there. And that's where I'd like the matter to rest, **please**.

i wasn't part of this thread (ie not reading) early in the piece. did craig and deb sort this one out already?
I thought we'd had the rather fake group hug and moved on thoroughly. Apparently it just won't die however.

Quick, everybody, abandon thread!

Malcolm i'd say your points are quite valid.
i'd also say that craig is a valued contributor who hasn't always exercised perfect discretion with his posts, but then most of us are guilty of that - i know i have been, and sometimes i've been rude and unfair to craig myself. i don't think his response was especially edifying, but it was some acknowledgement and the person most unhappy about all this seems to have come to terms with it, and i'm glad to say received good support from the rest of the forum. his style is pretty ascerbic at times but usually he mounts a good argument and certainly defends it vigorously. others have said he is a brave guy and i would have to agree with that. i don't care for the style much because i think you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar (assuming flies are what you're after), and i don't condone outright nastiness (despite having been so myself on occassion). but if Deb has done with it that needs to be borne in mind.
there is as you point out the potential problem that others will feel inhibited but overall i think the general atmos is still obviously supportive and the criticisms that followed this episode should help to make it clear to readers and contributors just what is ideal and what is not.
the discussions we've had here about net courtesy haven't been for nought. indeed the very fact that such an incident has received attention demonstrates that PA has comparatively high standards on that issue. i personally appreciate your vigilance and forthrightness on this issue Malcolm and i expect most of the sentient partipants in this forum do too. there are many ways to skin this cat and there will be more opportunities to improve things, but it's probably a good place to leave things to rest for a while really.
which, btw, would not be a theatering IMHO. but singing hey nonny nonny, joining the Jumping Jews of Jerusalem Dance troop, or re-fromatting your hard drive are all good things to do at any time.

Yes. Lacking for the moment a technical means of doing so (which I'll investigate today) I'm calling this thread closed. Malcolm, two grown-ups have had and settled a disagreement and that is it. So please, nobody post:
THREAD IS OVER.

And I'm out of PA System. So long, everyone.

Damn. Came here to triumphantly post
"LAST!"
But the wind has been taken out of my sails.
Hurry back Deborah! We miss you already.
-
"LA..."
Damn you Baron Llewellyn! Always one step ahead!
If we lose Deborah like this, the system has failed.
Post your response…
