3410,
One News is reporting that David Bain is now out on bail.
-
merc,
R. we'll talk about Natasha and you offline methinks. Close call for a Guinea Pig that Boa Constricter eh? Sorry about that, I've become a more understanding father since my death.
-
Yes, and if it's shown that Milton Weir, the former police detective who investigated the Bain murders had significant undeclared entanglement with Laniet Bain, via her apparent prostitution, then that would be of concern
Did anyone hear Joe Karams story about Laniet Bains cellphone? I had never heard that story before and wondered if it had any truth to it.
-
Now what we need, to tie this all together nicely, is to hear that David Bain was at the party on the night of the chicken.
-
that was a boa constricter? i thought it wanted me for some wierd movie.
-
Wishart fesses up, Idour is the source
-
merc,
Natassja Kinski with snake by Richard Avedon.
Slightly off topic sorry, but yeah R. it was a snake and it was mean't for you. -
But as I've said, I just didn't find Joyce Conwell's amazing account of her persecution by Weir and the other Dunedin police - running from Weir regularly stealing money from her handbag, to forcing her to confess to an attempted murder, to the whole Dunedin police framing her for separate convictions for murder and attempted murder - to be credible. And I'm not surprised that Tim Barnett and others didn't either. If the whole crazy thing turns out to be true, I will surely apologise.
This part of the story is much more serious than the whole Broad/Idour/Chicken thing - unfortunately for Wishart's credibilty pretty much every convicted criminal who passes through the prison system has an elaborate story about a conspiracy in which their arresting officer framed them for a crime they didn't commit. What's unusual here is not that a convicted killer claims that they were set up but that a journalist chose to believe them and run a lead story based on their allegations.

I have a framed copy of that Avedon print (full glorious colour). Current wife makes me store it in the basement. It was once going to grace the pool room & bar that I never had.
i reckon it's sitting downstairs appreciating in value.
-
Which came first, the chicken or the...?
Can we call it Chicken Gate yet?
-
merc,
Spooky how Wishart went on about not paying any money to Igour and the EB's neither. And is it me or was the thing worded very strangely? Like Igour named himself as the source, it's all very odd but maybe Wishart has a Master Plan (fingers in the air).
-
Igor?

On the RNZ news at 2pm, a former police officer supported Broad's version of the night of the chicken, and said that Idour brought the film, and screened it.
Next? I'd imagine that a number of others from the party will have their say. This could put Wishart in a very awkward position, if they also say Idour brought the film. I look forward to further amusement.

Heh. When I heard the news trailer mentioning that there was a new name in relation to the scandal, I immediately assumed that it has been christened SomethingGate, and was surprised (and amused) to find out it was actually about Idour.
-
merc,
Oh sorry slip of the finger.
-
But the way Wishart has framed the story - as a gotcha involving a clutch of evil, conspiring Labour MPs deliberately covering up child sex rings, corruption and the framing of victims - just seems bogus.
I think the story has done what it set out to do, get people talking about something other than the upcoming budget. Hence the choice of Cullen on the cover.
As I said earlier, Wishart's distractions seem to be very conveniently timed.
-
"Oh sorry slip of the finger"
It somehow seemed appropriate :)
-
merc,
And Don, I think you're right.
-
merc,
It was my middle finger...
-
I wonder if the Privy Council was aware if Idour's reputation here in New Zealand?
-
In that case, Don, could we hazard a quess that National is mixed up in here somewhere?
-
Mr Wishart has also now accepted that Broad was not in the room when the film was shown.

Current wife? You still holding a candle for Natassja Kinski, Andrew? Very freudian slip...
-
merc,
Yes Paul, we all saw it but we chose to you know, look the other way, it's the only decent thing to do.
-
I'm going to watch Kiwiblog with much interest. The anguish and twisting from the denizens as Wishart's story disintegrates will be almost as enjoyable as reading about the demise of Brash.
