My, you are trusting, Russell, or is that naive? If it's similar to the video I saw many years go (of course!), appropriately entitled Animal Action 2, then I doubt that is the case. Yes, most of the *actors* were male and some appeared to be wearing wigs for some reason. But there were one or two females doing certain ahem things with dogs. Enough said.
I'll have to take your word for it - I haven't seen it and wouldn't wish to - but the only such scene reported with respect to this film (not video) involved a man and a chicken.

Idour has now issued a press release confirming that he is the source for Wishart's story about the bestiality video. He has denied allegations that he supplied the film.
Idour being, of course, a known liar (even if you accept his excuse about protecting his client, he did lie about being hired by Exclusive Brethren members to spy on the Prime Minister and her husband) and loose cannon.
Next question, for Mr Wishart: would you like to revisit earlier statements about never having received ""anything significant" from Idour?
-
From Idour's statement defending himself, released today:
"It is just too long ago to recall specific detail and I am not prepared to speculate." (Stuff.co.nz)
And yet he is presumably the source of the very specific detail about Broad watching and enjoying the film. Amazing.

I'm really having trouble following this. OK, I get the porn film thing and the police commissioner, and Ian Wishart. And the link to the PI guy & exclusive brethrens. And police sexual assault. And I kinda half get David Benson-Pope. But apparently the David Bain case is linked to all of this as well? WTF?? Is this some kind of weird vortex in the space-time continuum that's swallowed a copy of the Sunday Star-Times? When will Nicky Hagar be invoked?
If someone was able to compile a timeline of events (actual and alleged) I would be most grateful, provided it's still possible to illustrate within four dimensions.
-
Heather -- I think it's something to do with deeper systemic corruption in the police force in Dunedin and Canterbury, of which the pR0n film is only part. And that officers involved in the Bain case have a history of dodgy going ons. Or at least thats how I see the very long bow being drawn.

Yes - weird vortex PI-guy.
He was hired to work on Bain's appeal to the Privy Council, sometime post-chicken & pre-Brethren. -
provided it's still possible to illustrate within four dimensions.
At least five dimensions: latitude, longitude, altitude, time, and plane of existence (where the last dimension varies from "observable reality" via "wild speculation" and "florid paranoia" to "lala land").

Exactly Russell. If he wants to sell his cake to Investigate, then he should be capable of fronting up and eating it when it comes back to bite him. Excuse me while I mangle my metaphors.
How does this PI even attract clients any more? Can his reputation get any more shattered?
-
The most recent audited circulation for Investigate is 8212 and its readership (ie: anyone who sees a copy in a month) is 68,000 - so it has quite a high pass-on rate. My guess is that its notoriety helps greatly with the readership number (ie: high name-recognition), less so with actual sales.
The readership is high possibly because of all the free copies they distribute. I see it at dentists, doctors, and takeaway bars everywhere.
I wonder if anyone's spoken to ex-Otago coach, ex-cop and ex-All Black selector Gordon Hunter about the incident?
That would be a bit tricky, what with him being dead and all.Any tabloid journo worth his or her salt would find a way.

Forget Hagar, when is someone going to tie Nick Watson into this? I bet that chap from 20/20 is racking his brains trying to find a way as we speak ....
-
merc,
That's why it would be interesting to know who is paying him...
-
merc,
...because presumably Wishhart paid him, then who paid Wishart to pay him, because a quick calc on the back on an envelope says Investigate is probably not liquid. And Craig if you don't think it's an issue who is paying you, how come the EB's donations dragged Don down?
-

Any journo fullstop! That's exactly what I thought a few years ago when in all sincerity* I asked Steve Braunias by email if he'd be so kind as to interview the late Klaus Kinski to help promote the current film society promo.
Bastard never replied.
* Truly.
-
promo should = programme
-
orget Hagar, when is someone going to tie Nick Watson into this?
Of course it would be funnier if I'd managed Nicky Watson.
-
"The readership is high possibly because of all the free copies they distribute. I see it at dentists, doctors, and takeaway bars everywhere."
so how about, next time you see one in such a situation, how about you take it away and put it in the recycling bin? i'll promise to do the same... unless this can be proven as theft? is it theft if you throw a way a free copy?
-
merc,
I am the late Klaus Kinski and I just want to say that Werner is an asshole.
-

Righto. There was a line in that statement thingy that Wishart posted from the murderer/victim-of-police-brutality, saying that the police were framing her to stop her from speaking about the Bain case? Pre- or post- chicken?
-
Also, Nicky Watson, oh yes. Also, the bish. I vote we do a timeline, string in a few more celebs / nutjobs and see how long it takes for Wishart to publish the new facts come to light.
-

Yes, and if it's shown that Milton Weir, the former police detective who investigated the Bain murders had significant undeclared entanglement with Laniet Bain, via her apparent prostitution, then that would be of concern.
But as I've said, I just didn't find Joyce Conwell's amazing account of her persecution by Weir and the other Dunedin police - running from Weir regularly stealing money from her handbag, to forcing her to confess to an attempted murder, to the whole Dunedin police framing her for separate convictions for murder and attempted murder - to be credible. And I'm not surprised that Tim Barnett and others didn't either. If the whole crazy thing turns out to be true, I will surely apologise.
So yes, there might be something turned up by the PCA investigation. But the way Wishart has framed the story - as a gotcha involving a clutch of evil, conspiring Labour MPs deliberately covering up child sex rings, corruption and the framing of victims - just seems bogus.
-
merc,
Heather I think you should have a go at a script on the ahem, hijacked, Flashback thread.

Wasn't Broad the cop on the Ellis case who gave the Holmes show interview about how the problems of society were that we were ignoring the teachings of "good men" like Graham Capill? Or was that another officer on that case? tI would make it all the wierder if it was.
I also know one of the officers involved was accused of having an affair with one of the mothers in the case, but I'm buggered if I can find who it was. Help me, Google!
-

Well, I can kinda see how that involvement wouldn't be such a good thing for the sake of objectivity, what kind of vested interest could he have in which family member committed the crime?
-
objectivity comma but what kind of vested etc
-
i can vouch for m, he is Klaus Kinski. i used to date his daughter Natasha.
i too would like to know WHERE IS WISHART'S MONEY COMING FROM? 8,000 sales of Investigate per edition?
how much does it cost to print 8k copies. obviously there isn't anything spent on research, but PIs can't come cheap, even ones like Idour, and he must have other overheads.
-
ron,
Wasn't Broad the cop on the Ellis case who gave the Holmes show interview about how the problems of society were that we were ignoring the teachings of "good men" like Graham Capill?
No, it was Brian Pearce who made that comment. Howard Broad merely charged four female Christchurch Civic creche workers with heinous crimes of sexual abuse, charges which effectively ended their chosen careers. Broad has never publicly apologised.
