Ur, I understood that was the base? The requisite?

And in related news, Avalon Studios is drawing its last curtain. We just hope it won't all go to waste.
-
Who knows?
I spent rather a lot of energy & life out there. Got 3 good short stories from the esperience tho'- -
Alas, we only ever get tv3 on our awful reception (and even that is peppery and snowy so you _really_ wanna watch something to put up with it). But I did watch Back Benches on demand. I truly did.
But, on the bright side, the official Back Benches beer mugs might become collectables? We have about half a dozen....(thanks Gareth coming on the show) They do take pride of place. Actually, up until a week ago when I finally bought proper glasses everyone who came to our house and wanted a drink of water had to drink out of them.
And for the record, pretty much all of them would say "cool, Back Benches, I watch that'.
You guys did an awesome job. Will miss it!

I remember working out there as a casual stagehand 30 odd years ago - helping to put up the 'Close to Home' set in that state of the art studio.
RIP Avalon... -

Lindsay Perigo is hilarious. My favourite bit was when he called teachers 'child molesters of the mind'. Christmas dinner with him must be lots of fun.

Islander: go here,
and just sign up. I do the vast majority of my (ridiculously prolific) tweeting from the web page.

TVNZ 7 is without a doubt less popular than those other channels. It has almost zero promotion and a budget to match. It doesn’t appear in listings in newspapers or The Listener. And the programmes aren’t your usual commercial fare.
Says it all really, like planned to fail because "It just wont work" I despair of this country sometimes.
I've not been watching TV recently, being up north in the bush and the satellite dish not being high on the priority list. I got a DVB-T dongle for the laptop but can pick up bugger all here and DVB-S devices just don't seem to exist so I'll have to wait for the dish to get Freeview.
And Islander, I still claim that you can get freeview down your way, it's just that it has to be a DVB-S Freeview box, for which you can use your Sky dish. Ask at your local electronics store, chur. ;-) -
Islander, in reply to
OK. I did. Bugger all result.

RIP Avalon…OMG! Were you there for the infamous "domino" set collapse?
-
Jacqui Dunn, in reply to
Third, it’s “fewer”, not less.
Bless you.
Oh, yes, I said "Hooray!" when I read that.
-
Quite independent of mine and Damian’s interests, it’s worthwhile if you can afford a -sub$200 decoder or a $450+ Freeview-integrated TV
It'll happen, eventually. That's a purchase decision I out of my hands for the moment. By then TVNZ7 will more than likely be gone.

Nothing to do with me…honest.

Not necessarily - if enough people want it to stay and grow...

TWITTER = FRITTER wasted energy – nothing to see here , move along there

’Nother big -7.1 – earthquake off Honshu-
According to USGS it’s now been downgraded to 6.6.
But the more worrying thing is, that quake and a few other aftershocks immediately following it were just about right underneath Fukushima No. 1 plant, knocking out power to the pumps for 45 minutes and forcing the repair workers to evacuate for a while. Not for the first time, I’m led to the paradox that, while we’re not in immediate danger, we do still have to continue to be bloody lucky during the next year or so while Tepco has to rely on inefficient, leaky, jury-rigged, external cooling systems, in order to stay out of immediate danger.

Au contraire, Twitter is the most efficient human intelligence network I've ever seen

Well, I was being a bit tongue in cheek there, I know where you live ;-)
This is what you need, The ultraplus-900hd-micro-digital-satellite-receiver/pvr to get Freeview down there. For $379.95 you can order it on line. And it records too.
Worth looking into.
:-)ETA
Have a look at the FAQ if you still doubt you can get Freeview down your way. -
