Just the one. But the rain earlier this week should mean more soon.

You'll need to get out there and surreptitiously water the secret spot then.
Looks like we have the makings of a Capture Meal here:
Porcini and Walnut risotto supplied by the south and Gibsorne.
followed by
Flaming peach coloured sorbet topped with preseved pears supplied by Auckland sunset and Chinese snowfall and Gudrun's pantry. -

I don't think it would be possible to be surreptitious in that particular spot!

9am and it was already melting that fast….
Dont cars look kinda creepy under snow?
Maybe it's because I dont see them very often...
-
Jos,
Looks like they're hiding, and ashamed that they have been spotted...

First glance - none of those look like heron tracks - all much smaller birds-

And at second glance?

Islander, in reply to
Possibly...I'm used to kotuku prints, quite a bit larger.
Also, kotuku-moana/cattle egret/little egret (different birds) make those kind of prints- and they are in the range of pukeko- -

Ha! Impressed at what you were able to squeeze out of a simple sign!

More frustrating than creepy. Gotta get the snow off before it freezes solid (not a problem this time, but December through to February its essential), and then when it thaws it leaves the car filthy - dusty climate + air pollution + precipitation = endless appreciation for my local carwash and its water blaster.
S'pose I could try and revive the spring thread. This was an especially welcome sight considering my neighbour two floors down was found dead last night. Didn't know him well, but did share a beer and a chat on a few occasions, interesting bloke, big heart. 55 is kinda young.

the game's afoot...
pukekos, a heron too?
...or little people with these thongs on...
(I always wanted to carve 'FLIP' and 'FLOP' on my Jandal© soles),,
but have baulked at introducing more visual signal pollution to
natural areas - the literal to the littoral, if you will...(hmm, memo for next election:: two pairs rubber stamped sole shoes, with ingenious ink feed socks (natural waterbased biodegradable ink, natch!), one with cloven hoofs impression. t'other with a National logo walking side by side through the streets... so long, Spring Heel John! )
Grays allegory...
first glance I saw shadows of fence posts and a barbed wire fence…
me too...
