Russell Brown, in reply to
hooked up my old Nikon slide scanner, upgraded VueScan, and played with a few images from the box of slides that has remained more or less untouched for a couple of decades.
With impressive results. They're nice-looking images.

Thanks. Made me realise I need to find that old light box and the loupe that used to be a permanent fixture on my desktop, because sorting through hundreds of slides with the naked eye and a window is not easy... At least with print film you can look at the prints!

If you've kept the prints and not just the negatives! :)

Or vice versa. I have stacks of B&W contact sheets with no films I can find.
Love those shots, Jackson, especially the car. Looks like it might belong to a technologically advanced hobbit.
When I get some more time, I'll dig out the slides from my first visit to NZ (to meet the future in-laws) in 1984.

Bold as Brassicaceae...
here are a few I prepared earlier
Tasty shots, that's some hot wabi-sabi
or as Crosby , Stills Nash & Young would have it:
"Out house is a very, very fine house...
...with one car in the yard..."
while Neil would say: "Rust never sleeps"
about the pier reviewed last shot,
the faucet is strong in that one... -
Our House: I suggested some time back that Josephine and I are happy to host a PA summer soirée in Hamilton East. It would entail a trip south but I can ensure that the streets are cleansed of bogans and boy racers beforehand.
We have a large deck, larger back garden, a vista of greenery, and eating implements,
It would need to fit around my daughter's return from Japan (Jan 13), Elvis Costello (Jan19) and TropFest (Anniversary weekend) but any other day is fine as I am on annual level, which then transforms into sabbatical (until July!)Responses and suggestions gratefully received

So as long as it's not those three weekends? Could it be the weekend after? Would that suit? I'd be in.

Ruby and I will be spending a bit of time at Kakamatua these holidays. It’s a wondrous beach for dogs and their humans, just designated officially off-leash, after being unofficially so for many years (it’s not a good beach for swimming or sunning, no facilites whatsoever). We’ve already been a couple of times in the last week and a half, and we love it so very much. It’s also a wonderful place to take houseguests of the canine variety.

And here's some doggies splashing off into the distance for your viewing pleasure.

That looks heavenly - I don't suppose dogs are allowed on it in summer, are they?
-
Cecelia, in reply to
Only in the evenings, I guess.

Happy with that weekend, which would be Feb 2-3 (if that isn't a summer too far)

You want to put it out and about?

Although I do have a funny story. Ruby and her friend Digger went to explore some bush on the other side of the stream. I called them and Digger came racing back, swam across and there he was. Ruby, however, was a little more reluctant to leap bravely off the tiny little cliff, and so I had to go across, get her down, and wade back over. Ah,the things we do. One man suggested I walk away and leave her, and see if that would help. I wasn't convinced.

I can do that. Calling on your extensive experience, what is the best way of sending around a message?
-
Jackie Clark, in reply to
I found just emailing everyone - clicking on the icon beside the ppl you want to invite. I can send you email addresses if you like?
