It took me all night to think of that.

    Flight of the humble bumble......

It took me all night to think of that. Pretty poor effort, I know. ;-)

    Heheh; nice.

Another timed exposure. Using the tripod for the first time in ages.

Anyone got photos of corn? Seems appropriate. ;-)

Got figs! I presume I have Auckland Council to thank for finally nailing the possum problem in the reserve over the back. Result: an excellent harvest from the fig free beckons. I'll have to make sure I use the bounty well this year.

What, are you giving them away? I'll have some. ;-)

I'm guessing that's another phone shot. Sharp as.

For sure! It's looking like bucketfuls at the moment. I tried drying the excess figs one year, but it didn't go very well. I'm open to suggestions.

Yep. Jazzed up the colour a little.

Figs; you lucky people. It's a great peaches and apricots year down here.

  • Sam F, in reply to Geoff Lealand,

Sounds good to me. In the meantime, an exterior shot from the Silent Film Festival in Opotiki last year.

The De Luxe is still up and running? Fantastic... I remember going there to see the first Lord of the Rings film - just about the perfect olden-days movie feel with vinyl seats and the curved screen etc.

There were guys riding up the main street on horseback in dark cloaks - we found out later they were meant to be Dark Riders, actually we'd assumed they'd just ridden in for the movies...

Bloody hell, that's a whole ten years ago now. Scary.

Delayed exposure, with flash, slightly unstable, perhaps due to earlier indulgences.

Today's roaming. In classic Beijing style, an old industrial estate all gussied up and turned all arty farty. We were going to a photographer's studio for the start of my daughter's modelling career. Across the lane was a place calling itself 醉美会 - literally: drunk beautiful club. "Literally" - each of those characters could be interpreted differently, of course, especially the third, but that seems the best "literal" interpretation. I was driving, so no, I didn't check it out. There's dozens of these little art districts scattered around Beijing these days. This one was called 718 - perhaps after the terminus of the 718 bus route right next door.

Two hours of modelling is exhausting for a 9 month old, but she handled it well, and got the nickname "IT baby" thanks to her fascination with computers and banging on and pulling keys off keyboards.

Back to the moon for a moment

Cool photo Ragged Joe. This shot was taken yesterday at about 8 am. Is always a buzz to see the sun and moon in the sky at the same time.

  • Chris Waugh, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

Nice one. Given the current gloomy weather in these parts and the propensity for the air pollution to stain the moon apocalyptically red, seeing a moon like that, with or without the sun, would be a huge buzz.

Success! The poor wee one no longer has to endure the squishy Japanese carseat that was supposed to last her till she's 3, but whose straps are already too short, now she can enjoy her big, comfy German seat. And after two hours of modelling, she fell fast asleep as soon as the car started moving.

Sounds like you are enjoying Fatherhood Chris :)
I took this shot yesterday arvo. Spotted 2 birds and zoomed in for a view ,snapped . When I had a closer look I realised there are 4 birds. The 2 babies spent time preening themselves so I did a series. Have captured some cute images of the babies. They have become a bit like "where’s Wally?”
    It’s fun eh?
