I mean, "my heart constricted". It's been a while since I had to think about impersonal constructions.

Hey, Veronica, don't rain on our parade, man. Even teh kittez are happy.
Just call me Marianne Dashwood.
Yours ever, Pollyanna.

Judith Warner in the NY Times has a nice analysis of the tears, too.
For me, this will be the enduring memory of election night 2008: One generation released its grief. The next looked up confusedly, eager to please and yet unable to comprehend just what the tears were about.

Here are some pictures to unharsh the mellow - backstage and close-up photos of election night, taken by campaign photographer David Katz and posted on Flickr.
Some favourites: news sinking in, "You did it, Dad!", best smile ever, great couple, and the moms!

Seems to me it is just that a win by a woman would have been much less historic. If it had been Hillary she may have been the first woman to lead the US but Golda Meier was elected Prime Minister of Israel in 1969 and Thatcher of the UK in 1979. So, not exactly new territory for the rest of the world.
I think there's some Kenyans running countries around the world already. In Kenya, for example ;)

A really really wonderful post. And the Frankenstein reference was very fitting given Alaska's proximity to the Arctic.
Palin was ungracious to the end. The mind boggles at what she might have said if she were given the opportunity.
There's a brilliant book to be written by a McCain campaign insider. I live in hope.
By the way, the best front page I've seen was a Namibian newspaper which said simply 'OH-BAMA!'

America's desperateness to be accepted by the world, to send a message about how far they have come got in the way of doing what was right and making the best choice for the country.
Sad.

Okay, you've got your first bite.
Elaborate, please.

It can only get funnier.
You'd think.
But let me assure you, no it doesn't.
