They key with Bretton-Woods was that in 1945 the US dollar was stable enough to base other currencies on and as a fair and equitable neutral tender. This is no longer the case and it may now be the time to look at the Euro or even the Rouble.
It seems odd that in todays global market that the benchmark should be a falling currency and until the US govt addresses that it can only continue to de-value -
A lot of public anguish about the kiwis rise against the greenback is mentioned. The key point for me is that it is the greenback that is in free-fall. Hasn't anyone else noticed or are they too encapsulated to see the global picture. Look at the global currency movements against the US dollar just this year. For my moneys worth it may well be time to pull the pin on US investment because when the Chinese call in their loans its going to shudder bigtime. Current underwriting by Chinese investment interests in the US is around 2.5 billion dollars per day, thats big moolah in anyones book.

According to French friends, its the old, they are only unemployed because they want to be canard. The average worker gets to have more quality time with their family so is a lot less likely to go postal.
On a much less salubrious note:
Im JohnBanks and I always listen to Rick and Charles. eeek. -
Jackie, have to agree with you there.
When I was 16 I thought I was wise enough to vote, but considering some of the thinking I was doing at 18 I'm not so sure I knew what was happening anyway. -
To me, the news was the plane didn't crash it just landed without wheels. I admit that it is a technically difficult operation and really the pilot should have been given plenty aprobos.
As far as Holme's daughter goes, can anyone in this forum say that they did nothing stupid and or illegal at that age? At least he had the balls to front to the media and not snick out the side door with a jacket over their heads. ps I dislike him. -
That may only be your viewpoint I O.
As a lifelong sailor I enjoy the cup cycle and yes if team NZ win I will punch the air a few times. No I don't own any red socks. I agree that folks are sad that diss other kiwis for sailing for other syndicates. In the long run most of those kiwis will be investing in NZ anyway.
The main point is TNZ lost the cup in 2003, if they had have listened to feedback from sailors and boat builders then we would have retained it.
That 82 boat was faster and higher than Alinghi, it just didnt go too good when it broke through the middle. -
C'mon you guys what a bunch of emotional claptrap.
Team New Zealand 2003 lost, get over it. They didnt do their homework, they didnt listen to expert advice and they had a regime of fat old school tie fools telling them what to do. Man it was fantastic to see the stats in that first race when TNZ was faster and higher, we had it in the bag.......but the boat broke.. the management structure didnt have any room for input from people that were sailing and building, why do you think Russ & co left? Get yer facts right, if TNZ2003 had have listened to the boat builders we would have whipped alinghi.
For the record I wholeheartedly support TNZ 2007 and Im looking forward to the racing. -
Bruce Hucker gone down as well?
