How about alternate histories? One Chch in which the earthquakes never happened, and one in which they did. The alternate realities increasingly interact with each other, leading to a catastrophic apocalypse unless the Talsiman (St Richie's Winky) is be returned to the stadium.

Because he's not contrapposto at all: he's squared-off, balanced, vertically aligned, and tense. Where a viewer might expect, or desire, a corresponding tension and firmness at the centre of the image, it all just sort of... falls down, in a sweet humble little bundle of bathos.
Whereas what's so weirdly hot, ah, I mean, artistically riveting about Mr Jolly Hockey-Sticks from the previous link is that there's an undeniable solidity about his supplementary sports equipment. Even if it's pointing the wrong way.
I just want to say - that's a wonderful bit of writing.

Now all I can think about is kinky sex with Paul Holmes. I'm guessing olives might be involved.
Please don't add details to 'flesh it out' - makes it harder to delete that picture from my brain.

With each other? or at all?

You slept with who?
Y'know, Emma, there was a moment at the Thistle, where you had just finished a story, and the thought bouncing around my head was "OMG! You didn't sleep with him, I always assumed you had"

But do you realise how far back through your journal I had to go to find something more helpful than 'son' for Kieran?
Heh. I was labelling christmas presents this weekend, and had to go back to something like September at Livejournal to get the spelling right for Kieran. I can remember R's as she (or perhaps Karl) taught me to sign it years ago.

Please include 2 from here for Wellington - but you probably assumed that.

@ Hilary
That sounds about right - when they did the last edition of the South Island volume (IIRC) Diana and her son Sam did the driving section over one summer.
I've heard they're doing a new version in a different format.

The Mobil guides were by Diana and Jeremy Pope. They researched them in the Turnbull Library...
They also researched them by driving from one end of the country to the other and criss-crossing from one side to the other - one island at a time. And did it again for each new edition.

Though at the time we were both English students
For a given value of 'student' - for me, anyway. Pretty sure most of my degree was in Bastard Gin or 500.
