That log from December 19 looks like it has many holes in it
Indeed it does – it’s missing at the very least these lines (marked w/ *) and who knows what else:

Jarrod Gilbert: Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean the government isn’t playing dirty.
Ten minutes or so before I posted my blog yesterday proving the Police and Corrections Minister had used dodgy gang numbers, David Farrar wrote something akin to an apology on Kiwiblog for attacking me for exposing the truth. He was getting the jump on criticism coming his way.
Was this a coincidence? Of course not. He was tipped off by the Minister’s office…

David Fisher: Minister based policy to tackle gang problem on incorrect figures, say police
No mention of the Farrar angle -- though in fairness that's likely to at least be due to the difference between journalism and speculation.

What would you do with it?
Well if I was Cameron Slater I would use it to find out where Judith Tizard lived and post about it on Whaleoil, amirite?

then we’re off to a friend’s for dinner under firm instructions that the table is to be a politics-free zone and the TV’s not going on until 10pm.
Sounds ideal. Have a lovely day!

I wondered this myself, and I’ve always assumed that to use use the ‘apparatus’ to catch Rawshark would reveal the existence and operation of the apparatus in the ways which it’s been maintained that it does not exist and operate.
Also that the window between event and book (around 6 months) is too long for retention of gathered [meta]data, meaning that the hypothetical vector of Hager (known) => Rawshark (unknown) (i.e. query Hager’s phone and email comms and geospatial data from that time) is not able to be exploited.

This morning's RNZ news bulletin at 7.30 finished with a short, cute, and quite bizarre piece about how many drug tests had been failed by beneficiaries taken as a pre-req to going into a job or training course. No context. No quote from minister or department. No stats regarding the number of failed tests v. the total number of tests taken, or the cost of implementing this regime. Nothing.
It sounded like a propaganda message on behalf of the govt and even the newsreader sounded slightly embarrassed at having to read it.
