You could call it maturity, but the All Black brand has not been built around treating defeat with maturity.

Wow; so he had a year of gruelling counselling and still came away with the TV Guide award??

That’ll be something to look back on with pride should there be a few quieter years lying ahead.

No comments on Afoa because everyone was too busy sticking it to Smit.

I can’t recall an All Black loss at home that has been greeted with such universal apathy and resignation as this one. The stadium of 4 million people has gone pretty quiet.

These jorts would seem to fit in with the Auckland Celebrity Culture phenomenon that Rosemary McLeod was rightly going on about on Sunday.

and check out the first comment here:

Now we’re talking; that’s much better.

I’m not implying conspiracy as such. More the ongoing spin coming from the black shed on the Wgtn waterfront.

    Hadyn,

It was dry for that Eng test in 2003. But you’re right about it being dark though…

I remember it well. Mitch and Robbie circling the ground slowly before kick-off, resplendent in their long black coats, looking like a couple of old-fashioned spies.

Then Johnson marshalling the troops for 10 minutes when they were down to 13 men. Oh, the psychological impact of that night…

This communal acceptance of Saturday’s defeat doesn’t sit comfortably with me though. It just seems a bit arranged.

I couldn’t read the whole Perigo article; I got to the bit where he said Veitch had exceptional talent and realised it was clearly a wind-up.

But the quite how the suggestion that Veitch be tried by the Justice system can be the brain-child of a “crazed mob” can go to print is beyond me.

Am I sensing that some people are trying to turn this into some kind of left v right battle?
