thanks Craig.
Did I miss anyone out?
well, the guardian has a figure of 27 for OTH, and your list accounts for 24.
you obviously missed the Green Party (1).
as for the other two, i've no idea...
anyway, interesting. either way, NewLab + LibDem + OTH just does not cut the mustard in terms of getting a majority (unless nearly all the OTH sign up, which is highly unlikely). so, it's either Tory + LibDem majority govt. or a minority Tory govt. with conditional agreement from LibDem. almost sorted, eh?
-
is there any analysis of what the guardian lists as "OTH" and which way they are likely to group?
-
cronyism
"pure" creative funding agencies
so a complete lack of transparency is normal?
-
If anything, the Lib Dems might be smarter to not not do a coalition deal with anyone -- but actually walk the talk and publicly lay out the circumstances under which they'd pull the plug on any government
yes. yes. yes.
LibDems enabling NewLab to cling to power = certain political oblivion
LibDems enabling Tories to form a majority government despite less than 300 seats of their own = near-certain political oblivion
Tory-LibDem confidence and supply agreement with conditions (incl proportional rep referendum) = heroes for the next decade
tell Clegg to read some wikipedia re nz politics

@recordari@10:46午前 on 26 4 10:
wow. didn't know there was a video bootleg of that gig. on smithstorrents it say sthat the video and audio were put together from separate sources (not surprisingly).
my girlfriend at the time was on her first trip to London and there just happensed to be a one-off charity gig (Artists Against Apartheid) at the Brixton Academy. so naturally she went and had a great time. of course at the time no one had any clue that it would be the last Smiths live performance ever. (also only time SGABTO was ever played live by the Smiths)

"I don't believe it was a hoax. I base it on the fact that it appeared in a Harvard Law School text 70 years after the fact,"
that's got to be the most credulous line i've read since the "hope and change" millennialist religious movement of 2008.
nice work Matt Nippert.

"Candid Camera" was a staple in our house in the early 70s.
i think a lot of the ideas for the wave of "reality" programs out of the UK in the late-80s/early-90s were gleaned from dozens of bizarre Japanese television programs of that era and slightly earlier. the ideas were adapted, of course, to British tastes. the "Big Brother" format, though, is derivative of from the MTV thing...
but i reckon the Japanese programs took their cues from the 60s American programs, just through a very different cultural lens.
@Robyn:
There have always been talent shows on the telly, but Popstars was the first to mix the talent quest with the idea of manufactured pop.
nah, i'd say that kind of thing has been staple in Japan since the late-70s at least.

yeah, the guy at place where we stayed told us a bit of the history. the cinema thing being just one of a whole lot of amazing facts about the place that seem so unlikely when you go there now.

@Ben:
Waipiro Bay
a truly amazing place. only been there twice for a couple of days each. won't ever forget it though. hope to go back again a few times too...

the high water mark of human civilisation, imho.
