  • Hard News: Rain on his parade,

Aww, I came here to talk about breasts, and now no-one is. Stink.

However I would like to nominate the following for "most disturbing line I've ever read in Hard News":

Not only are they profoundly, fundamentally functional, I find them attractive.

(Do other readers have lines from Russell, or anyone at Public Address that disturb them? Send your answers on the back of an envelope to the usual address)

  • Field Theory: Olympic Eye Candy,

I'm pretty sure it's slower ... not least because you'd first have to exit the stadium and go over to the swimming venue :-)

Ahah, classic - and there's another reason why I'm not writing the sports blog.

I thought we were talking about swimming (it was the Phelps discussion) and the fact they seem to place a lot of emphasis these days on who stays under the longest after they jump in... although 30m did seem pretty extreme. My question still stands if anyone knows the answer :)

  • Field Theory: Olympic Eye Candy,

His head didn't come up until 30m in. Too cool.

Can someone explain this to me please? Hadyn? Is there some cost-benefit formula here, or is it always faster to stay underwater as long as possible doing that funny dolphin kick thing, rather than surfacing and flailing ones arms out in the accepted manner?

Re the stuff article, in my experience what's worse than sleeping with someone who was hot the night before but isn't now, is asking someone out on a date in the same situation. At least with the former, you can run home and cry in the shower. With the latter you don't know until you go to pick them up, and then it's too late, you have to spent the next few hours having dinner with someone you're not in the slightest bit attracted to, and then pay the bill. I've learned my lesson on that one.

  • Cracker: No Kitty Blues,

I am sure Tonka is at the Cat Pearly Gates meowing to be let in, or inside the Cat Pearly Gates meowing to be let out.

Heh, I don't know how long it took me to work that one out - "oh you want to be let out (at 5am)? There you go". "Oh you want to be let in (at ten past)? There you go." "Out again so soon?" Oh right... you just want me to get up and give you attention...

Yes, Tonks was on Close Up twice (once in a story about fat pets, which I'm a bit embarrassed about now, since he wasn't really fat, he just looked it) and Breakfast once. A month or so ago they were looking for a cat for Fair Go, and I put his name forward - but he got turned down because he didn't have enough "studio experience"... talk about picky! :)

    More cat photos please.

  • Field Theory: Olympic Eye Candy,

As you've pointed out, the laydeez get all the eye candy. Whats in it for us men

Okay, they might've been a touch tall, but that's never bothered me - did anyone see the Polish women's volleyball team? Not beach, indoor. OMFG. My friend Ben and I were channel surfing and we came across them playing the Cubans. That was a game with something for everyone - bootylicious Cubans on one side, Aryan goddesses on the other.

  • Cracker: No Kitty Blues,

:) Yeah bring on the kitty photos - let's have a feline love-in.

And yes, Tonka never seemed more affectionate than when I was sitting on the couch with my Powerbook out. Nothing said "come jump on my lap" more than a laptop...

  • Cracker: No Kitty Blues,

Cute photo Richard - they're very hard to take pics of I reckon, more often than not you just end up with a big black triangle where their face is. Tonka made things harder when he was outside by always screwing his eyes up in the daylight - we used to call him Moley.

And yes, I just can't commit to that final vacuum yet - even though I know there'll be bits of fluff on all my clothes for years to come, there's a few big bits lying around the house right now I feel comfort in leaving there, rather than sucking up out of sight.

  • Cracker: No Kitty Blues,

All I want to do right now is go home and cuddle my cat.

And make sure you do, Sir. I know a bunch of my friends' kitties have been feeling the love of their owners since Tonka got sick.

Simon, I wasn't sure if you'd seen him when he was a kitten? I've got a few polaroids I need to get scanned - almost completely white with just a little chocolate nose. So cute. But yes, as I mentioned, he's seen a few sights over the years eh!

Thanks for your comments guys. :)

  • Hard News: Heard any good tunes lately?,

This from Popbitch on the god awful Timbaland/Cornell project:

    >> Timbagarden <<
    When r&b meets grunge

The first track from the collaboration between
Chris Cornell and Timbaland is out now. Timbaland
had approached Cornell's record label to suggest
he produce the grunge star's third solo album,
    but Cornell wasn't interested.

To get the gig, Timbaland got hold of Cornell's
mobile number and called him up personally to
ask him to let him produce the record. He
rhapsodied about Soungarden's early albums on
Sub Pop, before they signed to a major, to
the extent that Cornell realised the producer
was a genuine fan and the two bonded. Let's
hope disappointing first track, Long Gone,
is not representative of the album.

  • Cracker: Mr Transparent,

Hell NO! I'll be voting for my National electorate puppet (I think it's Richard Worthless again) this year

While I completely understand why you'd do that Matthew, isn't it sad that we have to think like that, rather than actually voting for the candidate we'd like to see win, no matter what their chances?

Anyway, if I lived there I'd probably vote for Rodney simply because of the colour he contributes to the political landscape. As compared to say, Richard Worth (who tried to be my friend on Facebook the other day...ew). But of course that's just my opinion, and I can see many many reasons why you'd vote the way you do.
