3410: Cute, but so lame I've taken it out behind the barn and given it a quick exit.
Don't be stupid Craig. You specifically asked about why there was an objection to the fact that this series was being presented as "unauthorised". Many people have shown you evidence that it has in fact been produced with the full co-operation of the subject. But then when presented with these evidence (e.g. a fully authorised Q&A) you chose to switch the debate to the content.
The thing is, if an article/book/whatever is "unauthorised" it means that it has been produced without the help and input of the subject. Indeed usually with the subject totally opposing the publication. This is diametrically opposed to what the Herald has presented, so they have misled their readers. This is not about John Key, it is about the Herald's honesty.
Surely, surely even you can understand that without shifting the grounds of argument.

Frankly, Shaun, I don't know what the fixation on the u-word is.
I'll tell you what it is, Craig, it's a lie. And a stupidly unnecessary one at that. Given that it made up the banner that led into the article how are we to judge the credibility of the rest of the profile?

Matthew - I am not in a position to comment on what the DNC would or would not get involved in. Just to point out they have an oversight role and registrars have to meet certain standards to maintain their status.

My three more emails were finally answered today and a refund posted. It took 3 months..
To Simon and others with domain name management problems the Domain Name Commission is always there to ensure the smooth operation of the .nz domain space.

As much as I admire a freak show, surely a guy like that should best be ignored until he goes away.
Oh I dunno. WO seems to be a useful channel for some folks. Similar to the way Wishart is useful.

Wow, what I/S just said. I just know I should bookmark it for posterity, but it's late...

Craig, you miss the point with the likes of Scarfe and Steve Belle. Their caricatures of Blair, Brown and others easily match those drawn during the Thatcher years.
Scott has actually done similar stuff to Clark / Cullen (in his own great style) as well as their predecessors. I am not sure what your point is but it feels like you are clutching at straws.

Craig, the misogamy may have "come from all sides" but Thatcher's "class" issues were all to do with her own Tories (ironically, Tony Benn maybe being an exception to that rule).
But, in her long reign as PM she was accused (rightly) of many bad things but, in my experience, never of being incapable of the top job. I do think that therein lies a difference between the really outlandish but surprisingly common descriptions of Helen Clark.
More seriously, David (does the P in hD stand for Pol)...
Good to see that you're doing your part to raise the per capita beer consumption of Zambians
Humbly, I do my best. But I assure you your fears teatoladum in that venerable plot would be unfounded. Go there. Advice to the traveler, drink beer from a glass not the bottle.

I assume you're referring to me? Curse you, Ranapia -- Haywood! Haywood! Haywood! Will no-one ever spell my name correctly?
As I wrote to Russell yesterday, I'm not a great fan of discourse analysis (although, yes, I do realize that I'm being a stereotypical engineer in saying that), but I certainly found the data from the dissertation quite interesting. I think it will be a valuable historical record of the political vocabulary of the times.
Oh Yeah. Mr. "as I wrote to Russell". Who, Bertram? QED. You Pol Sci freak.
/me totally not under the unfluence
