The data for Auckland wasn't so rosy, but they admit the earlier count was probably an underestimation.
Streetworkers will always be a tricky one for legalization, though. Why would a prostitute work on the street? Three reasons come to mind:
1. No establishment wanted them because of their look or behavior.
2. No establishment wanted them because they are underage.
3. They didn't want to work in one. Subreasons:
3a. They like the streetwork itself in some way.
3b. They make more money on the street.Seems like 1. would be unaffected by decriminalization. 2, on the other hand, might have been affected - given that sex work was generally illegal, then also breaking laws about employing underage staff might have been less of an issue for the establishments. 3a would be unaffected, anyone who likes the danger and excitement of the street would continue to. 3b is tricky - tax comes to mind as an avoidable overhead on the street, as does all the other infrastructure. But surely the customers drive harder bargains.

I first heard that method in Goodbye Pork Pie, before I was legally allowed to even see the movie, let alone have sex.

I find it hard to think of it as sex if there's a condom involved. To me, it feels like having sex with a condom (which would probably be my very last choice of a sex-toy, if I was into them).

Jezuz Jackie, ooouch! I must confess to considerable discomfort during my first sex act, too, though. When you're both virgins, it's not always what it's cracked up to be.

Or
My honour, I was awake the entire time. :)...was he awake the entire time? In short, did he sleep with you, even if you did not sleep with him?

Witness the vicious responses to Giovanni's blog post about Richard Gage and the 9/11 truthers.
To be fair, the negative responses in the blog are pretty mild, unless Gio deleted a bunch that I missed. But he did speak of receiving personally targeted hate mail, which sounded quite nasty.

Your honor, I was awake the entire time.

An interpretation that is not strongly supported by, umm, the legislation he actually voted for.
But it probably is supported by many of the people who voted for him. To which does he owe his allegiance? The law or the voters? He finds the middle path, the path of least resistance, relaxes, and flows down it.

Curious that it's seldom seen as exploitative of the customers, the way other vices usually are. At some level, it's seen as a deal in which the customer can't lose. Hard to believe, I must say.

Brent, it seems like a rearguard action. Tar the enemy with your own brush. This is why I say it's not a good way to understand science, better would be to actually learn about it. Unfortunately I find it extremely boring science. It's not science about how to make things happen, it's science about how it does happen, and how to keep it that way. It's not science where there's profound breakthroughs in understanding here and there, it's about the accumulation of a massive pile of evidence, the very sorting of which is the work of a lifetime, let alone the collection of it. This counts against the perception, I think. "What can you do with your climatology?" "Um, well I can tell people that we're wrecking the planet". "Riiiight, hey where is the robot exhibit?".
