Good luck on the advertising Russell. I have been an avid reader of PA for a long time and know you and the team put a lot of work into it and deserve to make some decent money off of it.

Funny you had problems getting back from ChCh. Last year a friend and I went snowboarding at Mt Hutt for the weekend and were amazed that it the door to door trip actually takes less time than trip to Mt Ruapehu. Well worth the trip if you can get cheap flights.

I'm not sure that the Herald actually reads their own articles. A lot of them seem full of inaccuracies.
On the Wifi Note..NZ is pretty dire for free Wifi but grab KisMAC if they are on a Mac and just scan for networks as you drive around. You are bound to find some Cafe network or Telecom hotspot which you can get on to for a fee.

There's a virtual surgery game, will that do?
Okay, so it's not related at all, but there's a virtual surgery game and that's just so cool.
A little Wii.R
(Thanks, I'll be here all week...)

Having just made pro in Wii tennis I can safely say the Wii rocks. My arm is a little sore though - a bit of Wii elbow possibly?
One of the coolest things is creating your own mii's. The girls seem to spend about 1/2 hour changing eyebrows, hair, glasses, etc. The other great thing about the mii's are that they start to show up in your other games in the crowd or as part of the activites.
I grew up on Galaga, the C64 and Amiga and this is the first gaming system since those days that I actually like. It is easy to play and heaps of fun.

Rod Drury reckons Apple's iPhone is a winner. Some useful discussion there too. Interestingly, Sam Morgan chips in with the observation that Safari accounted for only 1.6% of browser visits on Trade Me in December. On Public Address, the figure is consistently ~8%, with another 4% of Firefox users on Macs.
What I find interesting about this whole browser thing is the take up of IE7 (Around 15-25% already). Also this hasn't affected Firefox with total FF usage averaging in the low teens compared with around 10% in April this year.

This seems to crap all over ideas about public content.
Which is my main concern. Quite frankly I don't care one little bit about Shortland Street but what I do care about is watching and archiving unencrypted footage from a 1962 epsiode of 'Townin Around' where my father launched his first boat over the rocks at Thorne Bay. After all back then it was the public who paid for this content and therfore it should stay in the hands of the public.

My cousin and I loved this video back in the day. Anything with a guy breaking in it was 'choice'.

matthewbuchanan: Privately owned and too small, according to Breakfast this morning.
This seems like a lame excuse to use for Carlaw Park. After all isn't the port area owned by the ports? And don't they need that land for running a port?
I'm all for Carlaw Park. It just makes sense. And while we are at it why do none of the options have a covered stadium? Wouldn't it make sense if you are going to spend that much money to actually build something that people will still go to when it is raining? Just look at the poor turnouts at games when the weather is rubbish.
Something about the whole way this has been handled just seems fishy...

And who is going to sell their shares in Renaissance? AFAIK they have had great growth over the last couple of years on the back of Apple. If they lose it then what happens to the share price?
