In fact the last vaguely qualified Minister of Finance the country has had was Roger Douglas, who studied accountancy.

They gave it to Goff? Or did you mean Dyson? EDIT: sorry, it's clearly Dyson. I think it makes sense to leave it with her, rather than giving it to someone ranked higher but who wouldn't know what to do with it. She could do the policy work (which includes working with the highly ranked Hipkins) and be effective in the house on the issues.

I think it was in his Bruce Jesson lecture in 2012 that Hager first suggested that sorting through this kind data - by splitting the sheer work it takes, and that is often beyond the capabilities of individual journalists or newsrooms - could be a good and straightforward use of a crowd of volunteer investigative journalists.

a claim that Needs Assessment and Service Co-ordination Agencies (NASCs) which are contracted to the Ministry of Health to gatekeep resources are not subject to the OIA.

To all those getting caught up in the "But your guys did it first" arguments...
...remember "your guys" is a meaningless phrase. On questions of economics and governance New Zealand has had an interrupted series of right wing governments by most international standards. It's not a case of "but it also happened under Labour" so much as "and it also happened [or started] under Labour". There is no contradiction, and it's pointless to wait for a cavalry that is simply never going to come.
The challenge of campaigning about these issues is that it pits you against the vast majority of the political class. Nicky Hager has spoken about this at length.
