"slap some sense into",
Reminds me of my saying I dined out on during the early 90s.
The Army was the cheapest discipline I'ld ever had.

Judging from Shane Jones comments in Parliment.
His issue of division is about a division between Maoridom rather than Maori & Pakeha.
Jones view is rather more nuanced than Goffs.
Jones was hating on Ngai Tahu, Goff was hating on Maori.

"ACT, which basically adopted the New Zealand Law Society's concerns."
I hate it when ACT take a reasoned or pricipled position (whether I agree or disagree with it). Thankfully this is becoming less and less as time goes bye.

Off Topic, but good to see the provocation defense has gone.
Anyone know who/why five MPs voted to keep it? -
With regards to compulsory harassment of young drivers.
That is exactly what the Central Christchurch Liquor ban has increased.
It is legal to drive through with alcohol in your car.
But cops are stopping kids, searching their cars and pouring the priviously unopened piss into the Avon. They do this because the cops got caught drinking it themselves a few years back. -
Steve - loved pac man.
My first flat in Christchurch we used to have jousting torniments at Wollies. Two shopping Trollies & mops at either ends of an aisle. Also it used to have triangular baskets that you could gain bonus points off. We were sober/straight - but young. -
Islander - I'm drawing a bit of a bow for sure, linking ToW, Kemps, ToWII(Ngai Tahu Settlement), TRONT & now ETS. I'm reffering to 1848 Kemps purchase of North Canty which directly relates to the same place and people.
As opposed to Kemps purchase in Otakou. -
Brendon Burns MP, take him, please!

Morgan, Christchurch is very much a Service City for the Rural hinterland. This aspect of life has always been present here.
The relationship between Police & Prostitutes is at an all time high, despite Constable Connolly.
Christchurch is one of the safest Cities in NZ. As long as you're not engaged in the drug/sex industries.
Many people believe the unsolved murder has infact been solved but will not be prosecuted.

Kai Tahu settled first (or there abouts) on the explicite terms that they won't lose on the deal, subject to any further dealings with other iwi etc.
I'm not in favour of TRONTs residential developments (Pegusus & Marshlands), but this must be looked at in the light of Kemps purchase land set aside for Kai Tahuriri in North Canty has & continues to be starved of services or outright bans on Development. That was its explicite purpose as stated in the Kemp deal.
