are Ukuleles corrupting our youth!
This image of a basso profundo cowboy in
a G string, always with a minor...
... is rather disquieting (in the low range of course)
I remember similar objections to Batman and Robin's relationship... and they an often be seen hanging on a string to nowhere!...anyway, I'd always thought a Basso Profundo was a particularly deep thinking latin perch - guess I was just piscine in the wind...

Fred Wertham -
But why they built it as a loop, and part of a 900m State Highway, I don't know.
the main reason it is a loop i think is to deal with the steep drop from the bluff/hill above down onto the flat at Caroline Bay and wharf area (and I guess to avoid the need for noisy air brakes in the middle of town) - so gentle sweeping loop reduces gradient and speed, the best way possible in a limited space - clever really...
not something you'd want to go down at breakneck speed on a giraffe though... :- ) -
(re)inventing the stop sign...
I posted this movie link yonks ago
still worth a revisit (feel the fear...)and this one is for Graham Reid's last blog (and has the same movie too) a one stop stop stop </stop>

Going through the Motions...
as Phillip M mentioned earlier...
- what's the deal with this Found Poetry thang...
is it merely Remembrance of Things Parsed?
(see Guardian Article)...here's an illuminating quote from the Mirror article
Shephard's A War of Nerves contains the line: "War from behind the lines is a dizzying jumble. Revolving chairs, stuffy offices, dry as dust reports... " Motion's An Equal Voice begins: "War from behind the lines is a dizzy jumble. Revolving chairs, stuffy offices, dry as dust reports... " Former Poet Laureate Motion claimed the use of quotations from other works, known as "found poetry", has been used since Shakespeare's time. He said: "He has got the wrong end of the stick. To blow off about it like he has done completely misunderstands what found poetry is."
it's not like he's taking the piss like Duchamp

There was more intermarriage than killing.
Conquest by the "pork sword",
a more humane assimilation
and blurring of bloodlines......could be a whole new fantasy genre:
Pork Sword & Sourcery

I'm with Matthew & Craig on this...
any responsible adult with a basic grasp on geography, and wanting to visit a nearby capital city would have arranged an extension to their trip. Rather than evince the sudden realisation that "gosh I could just skip work and go get an "eiffel" of Paris"...
Heartening as it is that he is interested in the heritage of the White MF oppressors...
It would be interesting to know exactly when he bought the tickets, as to how premeditated his "spur of the moment - mug not to make it" trip was... (my emphasis)snouts in trough - living high in the Hone sty - along with the appalling Rortney "Shekel & Hide" all singing and dancing "The working class can kiss my arse - I've got the boss's job at last" show
sigh....

reliable sources...
I must confess I always find it hard to believe that many of the recent books on NZ Music don't seem to reference John Dix's Stranded in Paradise a seminal work I would have thought ...
- no accusations, just saying... -
Just an up date on The Arts Centre in Christchurch.
Yesterday a closed 'workshop' was held at the CCC where submitter Rod Carr has the exclusive ear of council.I also note that the Press story didn't clarify whether Ken Franklin (AC Director) or any representative of the Arts Centre Trust were there - which seemed odd - the entire block is after all held in trust for the people of Chch by that bunch - who a couple of years back amended their Trust deed of incorporation by inserting the word "develop" throughout the document...
I'd be interested to hear if any Auckland folk know of Mr Franklin's development endeavours in Auckland prior to his initial appointment as property manager at the AC - I heard he was involved in some Mall development, (but I could be mistaken) and that seems to be what they are turning the Arts Centre into - there are few practising artists left on site now - and the ones that are, are being marginalised and face an uncertain future as AC management dithers over when and where they are going to be shifted to - so food shops can allegedly take their place - retail rules...
