It would seem the Herald has opted to open up the Swine Flu story to YourViews
*hands on hips*
Well duh?! How else are we going to fix this thing? By listening to health experts? Are you MAD!? -
I am always happy to see authorities taking things seriously. It makes me feel much safer, especially when I take the bus to work with people who are always coughing and spluttering (WTF! stay home!).
I read the comic book version of The Stand a couple of weeks ago. Even hints of pandemics properly freak me out. King did right to base his book around a disease. It's the first half of the book that's scariest by far, much more than the second bit when the supernatural stuff kicks in.
Have I got a discussion thread for you

Was that really written by Leg Break?
Maybe the fake Steve Jobs discovered cricket?

Seriously that you don't think it's weird that a guy shows up in the 8th inning of a 9 inning game, goes out to pitch (with a catcher he's never worked with) in a shirt of a guy who doesn't play for that team any more? Is that a normal thing in football and cricket?
But please please, cricket: A bunch of players are going to a 20/20 league that's going to be held in New York in October. That totally makes sense.

Sorry to break from my own topic, but this is a crazy story from the weird world of MLBaseball:
Bizarre scene last night in Toronto, as Texas pitcher Darren O’Day got into the Jays/Texases game but wore someone else’s NOB [ Name On Back of uniform ].
O’Day had been claimed on waivers earlier in the day and had just arrived in Toronto during the eighth inning of the game (I think he stopped along the way for some poutine), but they didn’t have a jersey for him, so he had to wear Kason Gabbard’s No. 30 jersey (which was apparently laying around even though Gabbard is now in triple-A).
Naturally, O’Day promptly gave up the game-winning hit. There’s excellent coverage of this incident, including some good video, here

I have to say though that
cheeky to the point of precocious
may not mean what you think it means.
Yeah you're right, though precocious is the attitude I get from it. "Arrogance" seems like too harsh a word

The most interesting thing about the Super 14 is the uniforms.
Don't tempt me

SweetHolyJesusFuck, that was awesome

A very close acquaintance of mine (let's call her "Amy") did her driver's license eye-test with her good eye open the whole time because she "misheard" the instructions.
