  • Hard News: Go Us,

Nice turn of phrase from Maureen Dowd:

The political unknowns, of course, want that tantalizing brass ring, so they’re not always completely forthcoming about their skeletons, if they’re lucky enough to be ineptly vetted.

  • Hard News: Go Us,

Meanwhile, the repugs ripped into the Obama campaign today for the deranged attacks on the Trig triangle. If Kos hadn't jumped the shark on this, all the juicy stuff that has come out since would be a lot more usable than it is. What a waste.

Turns out two weeks ago Palin met with the Jews for Jesus guys. Proof positive she wasn't vetted - no way she would have done that (or would have been allowed to do that) if she had known she was in the running. Today she was due to meet with the Schlafly anti-abortion crowd and that was wisely cancelled.

Giovanni, you can stop doing the silly walks now, if you wish.

I can't watch the video right now, I'll have to get back to you.
We were actually Monty Python deprived, as kids, on account of the fact they never dubbed the Flying Circus into Italian. A (kiwi) friend assures me that they are much funnier in Czech, a piece of info I've always taken with a large piece of rock salt. But perhaps he's right.

I don't think you know what I mean.

    I get that a lot.

    Your speaking in riddles, Giovanni.

It doesn't mean what you think it means.

  • Hard News: Go Us,

How many other second-bests might be foisted upon the US people, and the world, if McCain's elected?

He couldn't get a better VP because the Republicans don't think he can win. If he somehow got elected, that would change pretty quickly.

  • Hard News: Awesome,

I have agreed with giovanni but also think Dailykos (which is a community of writers after all) hardly led with this stupid rumour and moved to shut it down pretty quickly as well.

It wasn't written by a frontpager, but it stayed on the rec list for several hours, which means the site effectively led with it. But more importantly, it should have been taken down within minutes - people in the comments were screaming for that to happen from the start. It would have been consistent with the site policies and with its past record in these matters. They decided to keep it up simply because they saw a political advantage. (And it's still up, albeit no longer in the rec list).
